INTRODUCTION
Many of the following links and information were taken with permission from the THE BANNER, a weekly publication of the Christian Reformed Church. The author of the comments associated with the links given below to "Web Sites for Kids" is Susan Postema, a free-lance writer and member of the Arcadia (California) Christian Reformed Church. I thank THE BANNER and Susan for the following information.
Susan writes: "After visiting many Christian Web sites, I am excited about all the possibilities the Web has to offer preschool- and elementary- age kids and their parents. Many sites I visited make the gospel fun and inviting to children through creative graphics, games, and age-appropriate lessons and stories.
True, I found others not worth my time or money, some even proclaimed questionable theology. As with any form of multimedia, it pays to be a wise and wary consumer. Many home pages claim that they do not guarantee the content of the sites they link to, so parents and teachers need to do some surfing first to find appropriate sites for their children or students.
LINKS TO RESOURCES
First a few resource sites that provide links to many wonderful
Christian Web sites for young children, as well as resources for
teachers and parents.
Kids and Stuff Home Page! Welcome to the Kids and Stuff Home Page! Here you will find lots of ideas for kids ministry, and ways to tell kids about Jesus! Feel free to use any of these ideas. Our goal is to help other Children's Pastors and Workers so they can reach even more children effectively!
ChildrensMinistry.net has
done the digging for you. This is one of the biggest children’s
ministries resources on the web. Visit this site to find all the best
information (teachers' resources, publishers, puppets, music, drama,
entertainment, etc.) in one place.
LINKS TO SITES
The following list is a glance at some of the best sites available, but it is not comprehensive.
Kids Corner. Launched by the Back to God Hour, this web site features activities, coloring pages, puzzles, devotions, a mystery of the month, games, and more.
Kids News Press - Stories, Games & Activities. Kids News Press features Bible stories and monthly news. Activities include poems, quizzes, riddles, and Word Search. It is a fun site and has translations.
Kid Explorers - Adventures in the Rainforest is undoubtedly the most detailed, creatively designed, and interactive Christian site for kids that I found. By visiting the rain forest, kids learn about the beauty and splendor of God's creation.
Mr. Bill's World has wonderful photos and stories included in "Why Are We Here?"
If you have discovered an excellent web site for kids that could be added to this page, please email me, John Gilson at hopecrc@bfree.on.ca. Please include your reasons and the exact web address. Thank you.
