Leona's Poems - Page 2

Lord, I come into Your presence,
Knowing I have stumbled again today;
Thank You for Your patience each moment,
It's those pebbles that get in my way.
Please forgive me again today Lord,
It is so easy to drift into sin;
Troubles come and I am burdened,
I try to obey and then I stumble again.
Someday all these trials and heartaches will end,
Until then, Lord, please stay at my side;
Walk with me on my journey of life,
If in the lonely desert or on oceans high tide.
I hear Your voice in a gentle breeze,
You are there in the midst of each storm;
I see You in the happy face of a child,
When friends are few..Your love is warm.
Was it me who brought tears to Your eyes today?
The rain poured down from clouds above;
Wind in the trees whispered Your name,
In the rainbow, I saw Your promise and felt your Love.
I see You in a mighty rushing river,
You are there in a quiet mirrored stream;
Out on the hillsides and mountains height,
I felt Your presence there in the pastures green.
Thank You for watching over me again today,
I praise You for all You have brought me through;
Sometimes I am careless but still You love me,
In all things, Lord...I praise You.

Jesus was on trial for sins He had not done,
The soldiers beat Him and nailed Him on
a Cross to die;
Jesus said, "Father, Forgive them, for they
know not what they do"...
Did just "one" of the Roman soldiers cry?
Jesus has spoken so that we may know,
To one thief on the cross beside Him;
He said, "Today you shall be with me in Paradise"
The other thief rejected Him to die in sin.
When Jesus saw His Mother and the Disciple,
As they were standing by that day;
He said, "Woman behold Thy Son"...
Had we been there, would we weep, or,
turn away?
God had given His only Son and heard Him cry,
"My God, My God, why has Thou forsaken Me?"
Between two thieves on the middle Cross,
Jesus was Crucified on the Created tree.
Then came the moment when Jesus said,
"I thirst"...
Vinegar was offered to Him but none did He drink;
Oh! The pain and shame Jesus endured,
But His Faith did not shrink.
Jesus said, "It is Finished" and He cried,
With a loud voice to His Father above;
Then He bowed His head to cry,
"Father, into Thy hands I commend My Spirit"...
Oh! Such Wondrous Love!
Not one bone was broken of Jesus,
On the rugged Cross there at Calvary;
The soldiers found He was already dead,
Jesus died for sinners as even me.
Darkness was over all the earth,
It was then the soldiers realized to say;
"Truly, this was the Son of God"...
Sin has a very high cost to pay.
The Rugged Cross with the old rusty nails,
Was covered with the precious Blood of Jesus;
We're shown the proof...His Love never fails,
It's the "way" He carried each sin for us.
(St. Matthew 27)

When burdens come into your life,
And you don't know what to do;
Perhaps you think you cannot survive,
Just lean on Jesus,
He will help and comfort you.
When trials come and life is not bright,
To God, be faithful and true;
His yoke is easy and His burden is light,
Just lean on Jesus,
He will see you through.
Our Saviour was tempted as we,
He knows what you're going through;
Trust in Him...there's none other as He,
Just lean on Jesus,
He is right there with you.
Jesus says, "Come, follow Me"...
He can make all things new;
Come humbly and bow your knees,
Just lean on Jesus,
He will not leave nor forsake you.
All the way, He gently leads you on,
But you must remember to pray;
He will take your troubles and they'll be gone,
Then you can humbly say,
I've learned to lean on Jesus,
He has brought me through!

As I think of Jesus on the Cross,
Tears fill my eyes to glisten;
He loves and guides even me,
If I'll be still and listen.
Jesus walks and talks with me,
He watches and hears when I pray;
He knows of everything I do,
And He knows everything I say.
Sometimes, I become so busy,
The daily tasks often overwhelm me;
But if I keep my eyes on Jesus,
He will lead, direct and set me free.
If I'm careful what I think and where I go,
Even though my path may become dim;
If I stumble, He will help me up again,
If I'll be still and listen to Him.
As I read the Bible, God's Holy Word,
And sing Praises to Him, I will grow;
Then I can rest assured He has heard,
If I'll obey, the Heavenly Way I'll know.

Men and women have left America,
Gone from their family and home they love;
Joined together as Troops and friends,
In countless numbers like the stars above.
The flag of America waves from the flagpole,
Beautiful colors of red, white and blue;
Faithfully, the flag travels off to war,
Soldiers depend on this flag and are true.
There is nothing pleasant about a war,
With heartaches, suffering and pain;
Troops fight for Freedom across the sea,
Honor them and pray for their return home again.
Many dear ones lives have been taken away,
Some day all these wars will cease;
For this thought we can be encouraged,
Heaven is a place of Love, Joy and Peace.
These Troops are brave and we love them,
Their Courage fills our hearts to overflow;
When you see a Soldier in their uniform,
Speak words of kindness and love so they will know.
We cannot understand the hate among people,
They're created in God's Image as you and I;
Perhaps they have not been taught to Love,
They choose to hate and watch others die.
Let's not forget America's flag for Freedom,
We're free to Worship in ways of our choice;
Pray for all our Troops there in harms way,
Heaven is a heart beat away ~ let's Rejoice!

For you, dear friend, I am praying,
I feel the pain in your heart today;
It helps to think of Jesus on the Cross,
It's then our skies turn from blue to gray.
Jesus prayed alone in The Garden,
He set a great example for you and I;
If we go to our closet, kneel and pray,
God will meet us there to hear each sigh.
Trials come to test our Faith in Him,
We may be discouraged but don't quit;
There's a brighter day ahead for you,
It's just that God is not finished yet.
Trials find their way to each of us,
It's then, we must go to God in prayer;
He loves us and He knows our needs,
He takes every burden away to bear.
Our way is always a little more bright,
Knowing we can give our trials to God;
Always with us, He keeps us in His care,
As on this troubled journey we trod.
I trust God to hold you in His loving arms,
Many thoughts and prayers are with you;
This bitter storm in life will pass on by,
He will give you His peace forever new.

When trials come as they so often will,
When the road of life seems all uphill;
Pause for a moment and be still,
Keep your Faith strong and hold on!
Someone you meet may be troubled today,
The blue skies in their life may be gray;
Pause for a moment and silently pray,
Keep your Faith strong and hold on!
Don't be discouraged if burdens come to you,
Seems everyone has them in what we do;
It may be difficult, but God will see you through,
Keep your Faith strong and hold on!
Trials may come to you day or night,
Your walk in life may not be bright;
Focus your eyes on Jesus...He is the Light,
Keep your Faith strong and hold on!
Just keep holding on and don't give up,
Don't allow your mind to become corrupt;
There may be a bitter (or) better cup,
Keep your Faith strong and hold on!
Hold on a little longer, my friend,
Someday all these burdens will end;
Saints to Heaven shall then Ascend,
Just keep your Faith strong and hold on!
