AMAZING LOVE
How is it that the blind could see
That the lame could walk
That the deaf could hear
And the mute talk
How is it that the sea obeyed
And that the nets were filled
How could the prophets know
That The Son was destined to be killed
How is it that the wise men came
To praise the newborn King
How on earth were shepherds picked
To hear the angels sing
How is it that King David
Could write about the cross
Knowing that Messiah's sacrifice
Would signal Satan's loss
How is it that the leper
Could see his hands made clean
How could it have happened
And what could it mean
How could His chosen people
Turn upon The Son
And let a ruthless killer free
As they scourged The Holy One
How did the water turn to wine
And how was the stone rolled away
How could He speak so assuredly
Of how He'd rise that day
How is it that the veil was torn
And that a virgin bore a Son
How amazing that He'd die for us
So our victory could be won
How is it that Lazarus rose
And that He walked upon the sea
How could He forgive the tormentors
As He hung upon the tree
How is it that Bethlehem was chosen
That His birthplace was foretold
That John The Baptist spoke of Him
In words so sharp and bold
How is it that His disciples fled
On that fateful night
Only to die a martyr's death
Convinced that He was right
How is it that we go on living
As if His words weren't true
How amazing that He still awaits
Sinners like me and you

FORGIVEN AT LAST
Forgiven at last, praise God I am free
of long lasting sins that have binded me.
I gave them to Him on bended knee,
and He erased them eternally.
He entered into my tattered soul
and made it beautiful and completely whole.
I'll thank Him and praise him till He comes for me,
and then go with Him forever free

Here are three well-written and inspiring poems by Belinda van Rensburg.
BLESSED STORMS
During stormy weather
Clouds seem to lose their glow;
Gathering together
They darken Earth below.
The leaden sky explodes;
Rain pelts the ground with force
Threatening to erode
The soil without remorse.
Clouds rumble, roil and moan;
Lights split the sky in two;
Earth's creatures hide and groan
Birds bid the air adieu.
Though dark clouds hide the sun;
Though they are glum and gray -
Without them we're undone
For they send life our way.
They're smiled on by the Son
He formed; sent each of them;
A blessing every one;
A mystery to men.
Bringing much needed rain
Enabling life to grow;
Though storms can cause much pain
We need their blessed flow.
When storm clouds gather close
And life seems dark and bleak;
When foes attack; oppose
Leaving us battered; weak.
Remember that each cloud's
A blessing in disguise -
Sent by God; allowed
To strengthen; make us wise.

THE SHEPHERD KING
As night time cloaked my velvet dream
I heard Him call your name
He said “I Am the Shepherd King;
It was for you I came.
It was for you that I was born;
It was for you I cried;
It was for you my flesh was torn;
It was for you I died.
I thought of you and gave my breath,
Yes, I want you to know
It was for you I conquered death;
It was for you I rose.”
Ensconced within my dream-cocoon
I heard Christ call your name;
I pray that you will choose Him soon;
It was for you He came.

THE DUSTY OLD BOOK
A dusty, musty Book lies there
On the bookshelf by my chair;
Long forgotten and untouched
(certainly not cared for much)
For years unopened and unread;
God's Living Word; our Daily Bread.
I dust it off and turn the cover,
Inside is writ 'With love from Mother'.
Intrigued I turn page after page
And read about a long-lost age;
A time before the world began
When angels fought and fell and sang.
Then the Great Creator made
All that exists: the man and maid.
Their sin doomed those who were born after;
Sweat and tears instead of laughter.
Evicted from their fruitful home;
Satan left loose to rule and roam.
People turned away from God -
As a result they felt His rod;
Repenting just to sin again
Returning every now and then;
But though they were twelve faithless clans
God loved them 'cause of Abraham.
A promise made; foretold of old,
A covenant kept; the Savior sold
For silver with a traitor's kiss
And Blood that flowed because of this.
The veil was torn; men are reborn
Earning on Earth the lost souls' scorn.
The Lamb of God enthroned on High
Will one day meet men in the sky
To take them to a better place
Where they will see Him face to Face;
Then comes the dreaded Judgment Day
Of those who lost the Only Way.
The Book teaches all this, and more;
What is, will be and came before.
Don't do what I did; it was wrong
Please read your Bible; don't wait long -
The message of God's Word's profound:
Search for Him while He may be found.

JESUS THE SAVIOR
Jesus was born one day many many years ago
And though it was so long ago his light is still aglow
He grew up as a boy and then he was a man
And did many miracles that only the Son of God can
He carried his cross to Calvary to suffer and die and bleed
So that everyone who believes on him would be with him indeed
He went back to his place in heaven from which he came
And loves every person ever born, man, woman, and child the same
If you want to go to the place he has prepared for all who believe
Just ask him to be your Savior and your sin you'll try to leave
He will come into you heart and forgive you of all your sin
All that he asks is a place in your heart for him to enter in
If you ask him into your heart, he'll never lead you astray
He'll be in your heart forever and be there forever to stay
You will be God's child forever and always have a friend
He will love you no matter what and be with you to the end
You'll have a reservation in heaven that can be never taken away
His salvation is a free gift, you can never earn it in any way
Though the world is full of trouble on every side and war
When he calls us home to heaven, we'll be safe forevermore
Matthew 1:21, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name
JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."

AN INSIGHT OF HEAVEN
If you want to know more of Heaven
And what it will be like to be there
Read Revelations…Chapter twenty-one
Then study Chapter twenty-two with prayer.
It will be a beautiful home far away
There is no darkness and Jesus is the Light
No sin can ever be welcome there
Someday, we will take a Heavenly flight.
Prayers will not be needed anymore
We will praise Jesus forever, instead
Our Faith will be turned to sight there
No death can enter and no tears shed.
No lonely hours of night will be known
No sickness or pain can ever be there
Those with one leg or no legs at all
Will walk again with no trials to bear.
Murmurings and complaints will vanish
Those dark clouds of grief will be no more
The weather will be just right for everyone
Oh! The Joy to be on Heaven’s bright shore.
We will see Jesus, our precious Savior
Praising Him with the Angels too
Then we shall meet our loved ones again
Someday, when life here, is through.

FAITH WILL CONQUER
If you are going through a trial
And the burden is heavy for you
Surrender it all to Jesus
He knows what to do.
Increase your Faith every day
Keep pressing on and be strong
Faith will conquer every fear
God can fill your heart with song.
Even when you are so weary
And when tears dim your eyes
Trust in God to bring you through.
He is with you and hears your cries.
When discouragement touches your mind
And your heart aches with pain
God will lift the hard times from you
Be patient as He restores you again.
Pray to God for every moment
Lift your voice up in praise
It will help to lift your spirit
Let Him guide in all your ways.
Leona I. Miller
Gary Wiggins wrote the following poem and writes "Here is a poem I wrote about my struggle in some of the darker times of my life and how an old friend introduced me to Jesus. I tried to write this in a way that conveyed my personal struggle. Particularly important I think is the way my discovery of the Lord initially felt both exulting yet strange. Hopefully others will learn from my experience."
DARKNESS IS BEHIND ME
I was a desperate junkie in a foreign land,
Before I was comforted by His hand.
Alone and scared in this evil place,
I turned to a man of a different race.
He was recommended to me by a good friend,
"Satisfy Him and your quest for drugs will end."
My friend was right; He fulfilled all that I craved,
But there was always a price for what He gave.
He gently told me to drop to my knees,
Then whispered "close your eyes; prepare to receive."
"My God help me," I screamed up at the sky,
But with the darkness behind me I began to cry.
Sobbing into the pillow, I felt so ashamed,
That this dark passage into me had become so inflamed.
Just like that the pain disappeared,
I was left feeling content but a little bit weird.
"See that wasn’t so bad," He said to me,
"If your need for drugs returns, same place, same fee!"

HOMELAND SECURITY
I am a citizen of a great and holy nation
with perfect homeland security
Someday I will go to that far off glory land
and live throughout eternity
The citizens of this nation are peculiar people
from different places on earth
They are all the people who know Jesus
and have experienced the new birth
My homeland security keeps me safe
from all danger and harm
And someday I will be in my homeland
comforted by God's arm
There will be no need for armed guards
or policemen in that land
For there Jesus the Savior will be the light
in that place so grand
Jesus is preparing our homeland
and safe haven of rest
Where all the saints in Glory
will be forever eternally blest
We will be there with our Savior
forever in that wonderful place
After we have traveled life's short journey
and finished the race
I Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation,
a peculiar people ....

MY TIMES ARE IN THY HAND
My times are in Thy hand. Psalm 31:15
My times are in Thy hand,
Such grace to sustain my way,
Trusting all to what Thou in wisdom planned.
Our Lord knows our need day by day.
My times are in Thy hand,
Such guidance to direct my way,
Depending not on what I understand,
But on Him Who keeps me lest I stray.
My times are in Thy hand,
Such goodness to bless my way,
Providing from Thy storehouse at Thy command
Thy sweetness in glorious display.
My times are in Thy hand,
Such glory to delight my way,
Displaying the riches of that Heavenly Land,
That shall be mine when I am there to stay.

JESUS CAME TO SAVE
Jesus came not to call the righteous
but sinners to repent
When he left heaven to come to earth
that was his sole intent
It's not the people who are whole
but those sick who need a physician
Jesus came to save sinners
That's why he gave the great commission
He told us to go into the all the world
and preach the gospel to every creature
Jesus came to the world to save sinners,
not just to be a good teacher
He died on the cross for all the sins of the world
that those who would on him believe
and trust his shed blood for remission of sin
would his free gift of salvation receive
To receive this wonderful gift of eternal life,
you only need to look to Jesus and live
He has already paid your sin debt
and is ready and willing to forgive
Jesus loves you so much
that he suffered and bled and died
If you've never asked him to be your Savior,
then today is the day to decide
Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day
to save you from going to hell
That is the gospel story
the greatest story ever to tell
You only need to trust Jesus with your heart
and ask him to be your savior
He'll forgive you of all your sin and write your name in heaven
and give you abundant life and so much more
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that
believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

IT TAKES TWO
Instruction from the word is what we need,
Grasp that knowledge put it into practice in truth and deed,
Swallow your human pride being innocent in wrong doing and humble,
Making the word your sword and shield so you cannot stumble,
Be disciplined, also clever in all that you say,
Giving away Christian examples every single day,
Treasure your time with God he cares how you feel,
Remembering you can never pray too much make it real,
Then a relationship will blossom no matter what the task,
Don't forget all you have to do is ask.

THE VALLEY
Yea, though I walk through the valley... Psalm 23:4
Lord, I asked for mountains,
But You gave me the valley;
I asked for blessed fountains,
But You gave me seasons dry.
Lord, I asked for the level plain,
But You gave me the low place.
I asked for freedom from pain,
But You gave me grace to bear.
Lord, I asked for the cool breeze,
But the sweltering heat You gave.
In the valley You brought me to my knees
That I might beheld the Lily there.
Lord, I asked to understand,
But You taught me to trust:
That all that comes through Your Hand
Is the best for me.
Lord, help me to rest in all Your ways
Being confident that all is well.
As we receive grace all our days,
Even in the valley the Lily is there.

The reason for the ambiguous title is that it is only 4 lines long (the only part from a full poem that remains with me - the rest forgotten). As such it's probably more a "greetings card" message or small laminated card sentiment. Anyhow, it's here:
You are so sure in your conviction
That He cannot know your pain
But He bore the crucifixion
And died whispering your name
~ Submitted by Dean ~
Here is the complete poem that Dean
later submitted:
ROUND
In the center of the circle
That you thought would never end
'Till the walls began to crumble,
The Future started to bend
There beyond the black horizon
Was a light long self-denied
As the Son began his breakthrough
Shook the walls that were inside
And the water all around you
Was the flow of frozen tears
When you thought that they might drown you
His salvation held you near....
You were born across the line
As a circle of decline
As you walk through lonesome doorways
Can you hear him in the wind?
He is calling you from your ways
That have drifted into sin
You're so sure in your conviction
That he cannot know your pain
But he bore the crucifixion
And died whispering your name
Did you think that He must hate you
That you are His crown of thorns?
He never forsakes those who
Bear his mark and are reborn........
Though He seems so hard to find
There's a pathway in your mind
All your life you've felt the demons
But you buried them inside
Every day to you a season
With the harvest blood and pride
Lovers could not give you more
And yet your loneliness remained
Because all the grain you stored
Knew that it would be tearstained
As the tide in desperation
Tries to cling onto the shore
Meekly returns to its station
Always knowing it needs more
But today you've felt the Son
Your inner-sense knows you've become
A burning windmill turning
To the presence in the air
Though the world around is darkness
Failure falling to decline
Self-pity is its songstress
As it's running out of time
Let the Son begin to shine,
Make your faith within a sign.
That you're held by the divine
JESUS LOVES YOU
The Savior is waiting to enter your heart
Once he comes in he will never depart
He has life giving water to quench your thirst
And with his love you'll be immersed
He came to give you life more abundant and free
And that is why he went to the cross of Calvary
His shed blood was the perfect sacrifice
He has power to forgive sins because he paid the price
If you are thirsty then come to him now
And at the mercy seat humbly bow
He loves you so much and is the only way
Jesus is only a prayer away
Jesus is waiting with his arms open wide
He says "Come unto me and with me abide"
He'll forgive any sin you've ever done
And wipe the slate clean as though there were none
He promises you a home in heaven where you'll never grow old
Where some day you'll be walking on streets of gold
His great salvation you can never lose
Whoever comes to him he will never refuse

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me
shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to
me I will in no wise cast out.
FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND... The Next
Step
Some time had passed since I realized
That Jesus walks beside me and sometimes carries me.
Still, I am not free from the tribulations and temptations of this world.
And at times I fall so hard,
That I can sense uncertainty trying to overtake me.
There was one particular incident in my life
Where I just couldn’t bear it anymore.
Even though I knew that Jesus is right next to me
I still felt a certain emptiness inside.
Then I remembered that Jesus has said,
“I am the vine and you are the branches.”
“Abide in Me and I will abide in you.”
There was once again only one set of footprints in the sand.
They were smaller than that of Jesus’ and sure to be mine.
Yes, you are right, Jesus said.
The lone set of footprints you see are yours, and yours alone.
I no longer need to walk beside you nor carry you.
For you have finally invited Me to reside in you,
I am truly with you always.
From this point forward...
You and I are One!

TIMES AND SEASONS
God brings people into our lives for a specific reason;
They may be in our lives for a long period of time or only for a season.
During this time whether short or long,
we are given trials to make us spiritually strong.
Not only for our strength but also for our character and perseverance;
we shall come out with tremendous endurance.
God loves us so much that he cleanses us of filthy dross,
refining and shaping us so that we will not be lost.
All we have to do is continue to have faith, trust and believe,
And we will be given eternal life as the greatest gift to be received.

I wrote this poem for my kids
A MOTHERS PRAYER
I pray for you my daughter
I pray for you my son
To taste the Living Water
To know the Fathers Son
To know joy and feel His peace
His healing hands in yours
Willingly upon your knees
Like rain, the Spirit pours
My faith is a mustard seed
And so the mountain moves
Our God knows just what you need
His death is living proof
Your Mother loves you dearly
Your Father loved you first
He sees your needs more clearly
He's seen you at your worst
And yet you are forgiven
Your sins are all washed clean
The Son died; and has risen
So you might be pristine
I pray for you my daughter
I pray for you my son
To taste the Living Water
To know the Fathers Son

THROUGH MISTY EYES
When the beauty life holds,
Becomes blurry with tears,
When God's splendor unfolds,
And becomes marred by those tears.
Remember your Father,
Succumb to His embrace,
Yield your surrender,
To His healing and grace.
When your heart is crying,
And your soul disheartened,
Forlornly hoping,
And needing to be gladdened.
Cry out to your Father,
Rest in His compassion,
Seek the great Comforter,
Lean on His affection.
When the joy of your salvation,
Is stripped from your heart,
In abandoned desolation,
When your soul is torn apart.
To His comforting solace,
Unload and confess,
Look to His tranquil face,
Feel His gentle caress.

RUNNING
I’m tired Lord, my feet are hurting,
My bones are weary, my back is sore.
I just can’t keep on going Lord,
I can’t run from you a minute more.
I’ve always known, I've never doubted
That I was born to live for you.
Yet you never tried to force me Lord,
You just let me do what I wanted to.
I’ve been going around in circles Lord,
Because I wouldn’t hearken to your voice,
Now I surrender to you my Lord,
For in this matter there is no choice.
I’m running now but not away,
I’m running home to you.
I’m crying Lord but not from pain,
I’m crying out to you.
I want to live for you my Lord,
I want to be reborn.
And the though the world calls out to me,
It’s only you I’m focused on.
I’m ready Lord and I’m still running.
I know just what I need to do.
I’m running away from the world my Lord
And towards eternity with you.

THE POWER OF PRAYER
Do you ever have those kind of days,
When nothing turns out right?
Where you feel like your walking in total darkness,
And you wish so for the light?
Where every single step you take,
Feels like your walking uphill?
And just continuing with your life,
Takes every ounce of will?
Does it sometimes seem your hopes and dreams,
Will never come to be?
And when you stop to look around you,
Pain is all you see?
Do you ever feel like giving up?
Ragged, used or worn?
Have you ever hurt so much,
That you wished you were never born?
Don’t feel so alone for we all have those days,
And there is someone who cares,
You can always reach His listening ear,
With a simple word of prayer.
The power of prayer is very great,
It's stronger than sin, lust or hate.
It can shake the roots of sin itself,
Until it falls apart,
It can humble even the strongest soul,
And can soften the hardest heart.
It brings hope to those who have no hope,
And to those who are oppressed,
It brings comfort to those who are in pain,
And to those who are distressed.
So when you feel your days been long,
Or you weep for some small loss,
Remember the agony that Jesus felt,
As He suffered on the cross.
Remember the crown of thorns on his head,
Remember the spear thrust in His side,
Remember the nails in His hands and feet,
Remember.................for you He suffered and died.
Take a long hard look at all your problems,
And those Jesus had to bare,
You'll find your little problems,
Are nothing to compare,
So when you feel downtrodden,
And you need someone who cares,
Just bow your head, close your eyes,
And experience the power of prayer.
Calvin Hart
MY STRENGTH OR HIS POWER
If in my own strength I wage war victory is not won,
I’ll come home for relief with many things undone.
Boasting of selfish gains, yet sapped of all my strength,
wearied in my days and life shortened in its length.
When tensions do build and peace from me does flee,
quickly must I acknowledge this is not of Christ, but me.
I must turn my feet and make haste to go,
to the One who has power to forgive and to show.
The path I must take is one of humility and grace,
for only when His power fills can I victoriously run the race.
God will not fill me until of self am I freed,
then and only then will the Lord take the lead.
My heart, mind and soul before God being stilled,
my emptiness the preparation for by God being filled.
My boasting must be of my weakness before God,
seeing eternal as the foundation for all praise, honor and laud.
I fight daily in the world against a tireless evil foe,
save for emptying of self there will be no victory I’ll know.
A sense of my own weakness must ever be,
present in my life for me to be able to see.
Its God’s power in battle, being strong in His might,
as His warrior I march onward in His ever-present light.
It’s only in my weakness can the power of God rest,
engaging in battles that will put me to the test.
My strength must I lay down while this world do I roam,
dwelling only in His power as I walk onward toward home.

FALLING FROM GRACE
Falling from grace, how my heart aches,
I'm lost in the guilt of my past mistakes.
Live for yourself was my grand illusion,
It left me in a state of confusion.
Never seeing the path to my darkest of days,
Separation from Christ was the price I paid.
It can't be real; it must be a dream,
A living nightmare is how it seems.
Being swallowed by darkness living in sin,
I'm losing the battle Satan's stepping in.
Lord Jesus I'm tired too weary to fight,
Come quickly I won't last the night.
Be still my child, Ill open your eyes
And put an end to Satan's lies.
In the dark of the night, or the light of the sun,
Even in your darkest days I will come!
A fortress of angels I will send!
Keep up the fight; it's not the end!
Everlasting life is yours to receive,
It's victory to those who believe.
Carried in your arms, so close to your heart,
Lord Jesus the healing begins to start.
Captured by your holy splendor,
Your hands they feel so smooth and tender.
Oh the warmth of your touch, and soft embrace,
You're bright, shining, loving face.
This is the image Ill never forget,
Now living for you, there's no regret.
Sharing my salvation is what I now do.
Searching, seeking it helps to get through,
Longing for eternity, yes time spent with you!
You'll love and protect me all my days through.

and young men stumble and fall;

REDEMPTION AT TWILIGHT
As the radiant day draws near,
And the dazzling dawn bursts forth,
My heart soars without any fear
In the glorious Great White North.
In prayer I fervently plead,
As I begin this bright day,
To lessen my constant need
Along life's arduous way.
The evil trials of life
Press against me with might,
Engulf me in dark strife,
And extinguish the light.
As the day drags on,
Surrounded by cares,
Feeble hope is gone,
Joy is trapped in snares.
The overwhelming cross
I am compelled to bear
Multiplies the sad loss,
And suffocates my prayer.
In bloody battles of the day,
Christ's loving presence is the shield.
It holds scheming Satan at bay,
And triumphantly makes him yield.
During the twilight of life,
There dawns a heavenly peace.
By transcending human strife,
The soul finds divine release.

LET HIM
I won’t ask why I cry today,
It must be the treason
I won’t ask why I feel sad today,
It must be the season.
I won’t ask why I hurt today,
God must have a reason.

Here are two poems of encouragement written by 22 year old Sulekha Esther Rathnam of India:
I HEAR...
I Hear my precious Saviour say,
No more for sin do you need to pay.
He cleared my very sinful debt, O Lord how could I ever, you repay?
He whispered to me soft and clear “My child, just my word obey”.
I Hear my Saviour talk to me,
When the storms are near and I feel at sea.
He tells me not to ever fret, for He my guide to the end will be.
I know it’s true, I find him near, each time I come on bended knee.
I Hear my risen Saviour call me “Dear”.
It fills my heart with joy, yet grips me with fear.
This Almighty, Holy, Righteous God who my every sin did clear,
Will one day sit at judgment seat and hear my account for every year.

HE KNOWETH BEST
When you lie in bed wondering what you’re doing,
Or decide to move, but don’t know where you’re going,
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best!
When you are confused with the twists and twirls of life,
Or at the brink and sick of all your struggles and strife,
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best!
When you feel like you’re really at your very end,
Or when you feel defeated and have no love to lend,
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best!
Your father up above,
Is always looking down with love,
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best!
He is with you, will be to the end,
For He unlike men, His word will never bend.
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best!
When making decisions, never do you need to fear,
For your Father in Heaven, has promised to always be near.
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best!
Be still and quiet; let Him speak to you,
He is the almighty, never with Him argue.
Be calm and trust Him, for He knoweth best

Here are two thoughtful
poems of encouragement written by Juanita DeHart
EVERLASTING EASE
I wanted “Fields of Clover”
Or a cushy “Lily Pad”;
But God’s desire soared over
All the lofty dreams I had.
He knew that I would never
Be a minister of grace
If “Happiness Forever”,
Didn’t blow up in my face.
His reverie rose higher
Than my wishes dared to fly.
His hopes flared up life’s fire
For self-centered wings to die.
Instead of soft surroundings,
He provided tough terrain.
Still, blessings kept abounding
When high humps and bumps brought pain.
He gutted my “Rose Garden”,
Yet, He left those thorns which sting.
Heart’s sod is not down trodden,
Cause each prickle helps me cling.
I looked for lush and dainty
But I got Love’s cramped cocoon.
I’m glad He didn’t feed me
With a carnal “Silver Spoon”.
I’m sanctified through sadness;
Sorrow makes my spirit strong.
Grief gifts my lips with gladness
When “God’s Grace” becomes my song.
So “Happy Ever After”
Isn’t always “Easy Street”,
It’s knowing “Heaven’s Laughter”...
Following our Savior’s feet.

TIMES OF TESTING
Times of testing
Brings a blessing
That might come with a disguise.
It’s arrival
As a trial
Can’t be viewed with carnal eyes.
Look for meaning
In the weaning
And the pruning that takes place.
There’ll be laughter
Soon thereafter
Cause you’ll see your Savior’s face.
He’ll be smiling
And beguiling
You to lean upon His breast.
Then the testing
And the blessing
Will confirm that God knows best.

Here are two poems of encouragement written by Jennifer Kulp
Jennifer says that this
first poem is written for all the precious souls with cancer.
IT'S NOT THE END
I received the terrible news today
Of a disease within my bones;
God, I really need you now.
I can’t fight this on my own.
This cancer wants to kill me,
And bring my life to an end;
Jesus, why did this happen?
Is it because of my sins?
Lord, I’ve only lived to twenty.
There are things I still want to do;
So many places I want to see,
And dreams I wished to come true.
Therefore, I will meditate on thy scriptures,
And focus on the One who heals my disease;
I read about His stripes that said I am healed.
I believe in His promise to restore health unto me.
Faithfully, I shouted out His Word,
And proclaimed my healing every day;
It caused me to become stronger.
It told me to not give up or cease to pray.
Doctors said I have only two years to live,
But I refuse to believe what I heard;
Man cannot count the number of my days.
I will stand firm on the promises of God’s Word.
PERSEVERANCE
Lord, my spirit is willing,
But my flesh is so weak;
God, every day I cry out to you,
Yet I don’t hear you speak.
I’ve been beaten so many times.
You know what I’ve been through;
I can’t overcome this giant.
Yet it’s the only thing I must do.
I fought this trial too many times.
I used all the strength in me;
Yet I lost in every battle,
And once again I’m not free.
Lord, I’m tempted to just call it quits,
And lay here on the ground;
I will let the giant win again.
I have fought too many rounds.
As I am now at my lowest,
Tears flow down my cheeks;
I cry out to God again,
“Jesus, I am just too weak!”
Suddenly I felt my body
Being lifted up by my Lord;
He helped me back on my feet,
And said, “Lets do this once more.”
I stood up to that giant,
And fought as hard as I could;
He used old tactics to make me give up.
Yet he only thought I would.
I was determined to not back down.
I had been here long enough;
It’s not the number of times I get hit.
It’s the number of times I get up.

BUT GOD DELIVERED
Isaac, Abraham's sweet delight,
Carried wood for sacrifice.
But God delivered him.
Job did a godly life attain,
Knew sore sorrow and great pain.
But God delivered him.
Joseph refused Potiphar's wife,
Then knew a prisoner's life.
But God delivered him.
David kept lambs in tender care,
Faced the fierce Goliath's stare.
But God delivered him.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
Into a furnace they did go.
But God delivered them.
Daniel faithfully knelt in prayer,
Cruelly cast into lion's lair.
But God delivered him.
Jesus, redeemer of the lost,
Incurred God's wrath on the cross.
But God delivered him.
Paul and Silas did salvation tell,
At midnight sang in dank cell.
But God delivered them.
Saints, ransomed by the Savior's grace,
Trial of life you're sure to face.
But God will deliver you.

ONLY BELIEVE
Has that trial in your life been going on so long
That everything in you screams, "This is so wrong."
You can't understand, it seems God is far away
As with tears you cry out to Him everyday,
If you read God's Word His truth you will see
That He has a job for you and a job for me,
ONLY BELIEVE! is what He has to say
At His feet this problem you must lay,
In His time and in His way
An answer to your problem will be there one day,
Keep on believing, don't lose hope
He'll give you His grace enabling you to cope,
Keep your eyes on Him as to to Him you cleave
He has promised He will never forsake you or leave,
Give Him time to work it all out
The devil just wants you to worry and doubt,
Praising Him is one thing He's looking for
To bless you is what He has in store,
So no matter what, even when you don't understand
ONLY BELIEVE! that's what moves His hand.

LIFE
By Hannah Jones
To comfort those that are grieving
Sometimes the sun shines ever so bright.
But inside there’s clouds as dark as the night.
Thank you Lord you’re my all in all.
You calm me so peacefully when there is a squall.
You wipe my tears and make it like day.
You let hope shine bright when there’s trouble at bay.
You made life in me when no one else could
You’re my rock and my stronghold where I have stood
I will stand in your gates when they open wide
Thank you Lord for being by my side.
When death finally comes and knocks on my gate
I will gladly accept I’ll no longer wait.
I’ll open my eyes and see your sweet face.
And marvel at your amazing Grace.
Down here there are those who will mourn and cry
But I cannot wait till the time goes by,
A time it may seem before you see me again,
But when I see you I’ll shout hallelujah amen!
Dear friends here on earth, please do not grieve,
Now is the time for me to Leave
It may seem sad and dreary at times
But know that the gift of life is mine
For him have I lived, and to him I will run
My time here on earth is finally done.
As I dance down those streets shining with gold
I’ll think of you God and what I’ve been told
I’ll know that my faith was the faith that was true
And I’ll know that you did what you said you’d do.
I’ll sing with the angels and dance with you Lord
For I have been saved from the fiery sword.

THE VESSEL
A vessel tarnished, broken, useless,
Was thrown on the trash heap one night.
And was found by the Master Potter,
Searching through the 'rejects of life.'
When He found this dirty old vessel,
He looked at it closely, and saw
It contained an inherent beauty,
In spite of it's obvious flaw.
He carried it back to His workshop,
His trained eye could already see,
An object of beauty and honour,
That it was intended to be.
He repaired and cleaned the old vessel.
Polished to it's natural shine
Became once more a thing of beauty,
Was truly, 'one of a kind.'
My life was that broken old vessel,
Battered, ruined, thrown away.
I lay there, no hope of recovery,
Till the Master found me that day.
He loved me, He cleansed me, redeemed me;
Adopted me as His own.
Gave to my life a brand new meaning,
Brought peace, where once there was none

JOURNEY TO FREEDOM
Rejection, hurt, and pain
They’ve left such a stain
You suddenly feel like you’ll never love again
You gave it your all
You tried to stand tall
But then there it was, the inevitable fall
Your heart is so torn; your mind is so worn
From the thoughts of despair that are continuously born
So many feelings of doubt you just have to shout,
“Where are you, my Lord? Please, bring me out!”
My child I am here I told you never to fear
‘Cause I’ll dry every tear
As for your hurt and your pain, your rejection stain
The feelings you have that you’ll never love again
Reveal them to Me, the One who died on Calvary
Caused the blind man to see
Cured an advanced case of leprosy
See, “when you cast all your cares upon Me”
That alone will set you free
Those feelings of hurt and pain
Are turned into victories gained
And now you’re ready to walk in the light
Although it’s still midnight
But remember, “these light afflictions are but for a moment”
It’s an opportunity for your atonement
‘Cause I already own it, your problem that is
Now your deliverance has come
Your victory’s been won
Your head is up high; your tears are all dry
Your pains and your stains can now be proclaimed
As broken bondage chains!
For I reign as the Lord God
“Thy staff and thy rod”; “Who preparest a table”
For I alone am able
To do the divine for those whom I call mine!
When I called you out of darkness
I told you, “I got this!”
So go and be free
Tell the world about me
Tell of how I brought you out and gave you a victorious shout
Now that’s somethin’ to talk about!

THE JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS
One day in the midst of my prayer
I felt the Lord kneeling right there
When I spoke about my recent difficulty
This is exactly what the Spirit spoke to me:
My child where’s the gain
If during your journey you’ve endured no pain
What’s a blessed life without suffering and strife
How can I gain glory through the telling of your story
When you want it all to end as soon as your plans start to bend
Didn’t you say, “Lord, have your way, let Thy will be done today”
But the minute I move around
Clear out all that clutter I’ve found
You suddenly get this frown and your spirit becomes so down
Then you say, “Lord, I didn’t know you’d take that”
“Oh, do you think I can have that one back”
You see in order to be free you must submit it all to Me
Your husbands and your wives
Your offerings and your tithes
Your hopes and your dreams
Your disappointments and your needs
That’s the only way you’ll see all my infinite abilities
So just leave all the worry to Me
The One who gives joy unspeakably

SEARCHING
Trouble all in my life
Seems like nothin’s going right
Loneliness is upon me every day and night
I pick up the phone
But no one’s ever home
When I turn on the tv
I see nothing but negativity
Maybe I’ll open the Word
‘Cause somewhere I heard
There’s power in a name
And victory to be proclaimed
Rest from my stress
Joy, peace, and happiness
I remember hearing people talk about
How they had all these problems and “He” brought them out
I was thinkin’, “Who is this He” and “Can He help me”
If so, just tell me the fee
See money’s no object
Riches, I got it
But this pain that I feel
So deep and so real
Silver and gold have yet to heal
So now I’m in the Word
Looking for all this greatness I’ve so often heard
Looking for this “He”
Whom so many say has set them free
But as I read and read I begin to see
There is no fee for “He” to help me
A man named Jesus paid the price
Now wasn’t that nice
Wait…I didn’t know He gave His life
What a huge sacrifice
This Word has far more than all the things I’ve heard
All my life searching for what’s right
Straining to succeed with all my might
When now I’ve found that all this time
The love of Jesus could have been mine
So I drop my head and close my eyes
Fall to my knees and clear my mind
Suddenly my heart begins to pray
As I open my mouth and softly say,
Dear Lord, my Creator
Highest being, there is none greater
I confess my sins to thee
Please clean me up and make me free
My life’s a mess, I’m all stressed out
Please show me what your mercy is all about
I need your peace, your love, your grace
Grant me your patience as I join this Christian race
Now “He’s” my Lord, my Savior, my Christ
All those heavy burdens suddenly seem so light
The paths that I take don’t always feel right
But “His ways are not my ways”
So who am I to say
From this point on I’ll trust Him day after day

GOD IS ALWAYS
AVAILABLE
I admit that there are times
That I am tempted to despair.
Then God speaks in all His mercy
To let me know He's there.
He took care of yesterday for me.
Tomorrow is in His care.
Today He will walk beside me
In answer to my prayer.
He brings constant joy and comfort
To ease my concerns away.
I could not go on without Him
To be my companion through each day.
I would just like to remind you
To lean hard upon His breast.
Release each trial to Him.
Wait for Him to do the rest.

SHADOWS
The shadows that hid my soul,
Have all but disappeared.
Where have they gone I wonder?
That darkness I once feared.
In the calm between the storms,
Rich light comes piercing through.
The warmth upon my cheeks,
My sky turns black to blue.
Like a mirage in the desert,
Of which cause my eyes to squint.
I wonder about this new light,
Could it truly be heaven sent?
It penetrates my inside depths,
Like the dew on a morning lawn,
Should I still fear the darkness?
While the shadows seem surely gone.
As the days pass one by one,
The shadows a memory of past.
Your light shines brightly now,
My Savior, You’ve come at last.

THE VISIT
I tossed and turned, one night, it must have been till 3 or 4
My troubled thoughts kept me awake, I couldn’t take much more.
Just then there was a tap on my shoulder, but strangely I wasn’t afraid
The Lord appeared before be, right there where I laid
He said, “my child, you’re troubled and I’ve come to ease your mind
Give Me all your troubles . . . and surely you’ll unwind”
I got up from my rest and knelt down by my bed,
For the Lord had taken my troubles away, and lovingly cleared my head.
I got back into bed, but tears rolled down my face.
The Lord chose to touch me with his glorious and loving grace.
So when you kick the blankets, and toss the pillows in a heap,
Give all your troubles over to Jesus, rest your head and go to sleep.

I AM
I am loved...I am hated.
I am joy anticipated.
I am instruction to the wise.
I am that which fools despise.
I am knowledge on the lips of few.
I am understanding which the diligent pursue.
I am the way which is often rejected.
I am the hedge of those protected.
I am your strength in times of adversity.
I am your peace in the midst of tragedy.
I am the crooked, made straight.
I am the reward of those who wait.
I am shelter in your pouring down rain.
I am He who is able to keep you sane.
I am the hand on the surgeon's knife.
I am the very hand that saved your life.
I am the wind that encompasses your soul.
I am the only one who can make you whole.
I am the river flowing toward your drought.
I am He who breaks shackles with a shout.
I am the book of Genesis through Revelation.
I am the only hope of your salvation.
I am the First and the Last.
I am the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit...all in one cast.
Who am I? I will tell you, even as I told Moses...
I AM THAT I AM.

In the Midst of the Mist, There Is Joy
When there are trials, troubles, tumult,
or thunder;
When
calamities, collisions and clouds arrive
That may darken the way you are walking today,
Take joy, for Christ is alive.
When you think you cannot take one more step forward,
When pain,
and weakness and sickness prevail,
You may not have the words to cry out to the Master;
Do not despair; He is already there.
If the mist is so thick that you cannot see through it,
And the
darkness is closing in fast,
And you can’t even see your own hands out before you,
Our Savior is present long after it’s past.
Do you think there are trials that no one has faced?
Do you think
no one knows how you feel?
Do you think your temptations are oh, so unique?
Think again; Jesus Christ knows so well.
Are you thinking that suffering can just bring despair?
Do you think
there is no one who cares?
Are you certain afflictions will not end for you?
Think again; Christ the healer is there.
In the midst of the mist, there is joy everlasting;
Pure joy that
the world may not know.
In all of your trials, our Lord went before you,
And through them He’s helping you grow.
In the midst of the downpours and thunderous storms
He is walking
beside you to show
That in your weakness He is your strength.
Let Him guide you wherever you go.
So when you are weary and longing to quit,
Remember that
He sees the start and the end;
He loves you, and holds you and leads you along
And gives joy for the journey, my friend.

IN THIS LIFE
In This Life,
You'll have days of bright and blue
with good friends and laughter....enough to see you through.
In This Life,
There will be misery and doubt
things you scratch your head at....and just can't figure out.
In This Life,
You'll have dreams that reach the sky
and passion to move you.... until the day you die.
In This Life,
There will be days of pain and loss
and times when your only comfort is The Man upon The Cross.
In This Life,
You'll imagine what could be
and think the world is yours for all eternity.
In This Life,
There are trials you must face
and days when the world leaves you lost without a trace.
In This Life,
We are called to help the poor
to leave the cushy comfort that rests behind our door.
In This Life,
You’ll be astounded at how quickly years go by
and look back at memories that often make you cry.
In This Life,
You'll taste both victory and defeat
and make mistakes that wisdom won't allow you to repeat.
In This Life,
You'll find answers to the questions you hold dear
and live for Him who'll take away your worries and your fear.

O GLORY BE TO THE LORD OF HOSTS
All come to Him and earnestly pray
For The Lord God to forgive you this day
He will not abandon or sever
His mercy endureth for ever
Prepare your heart and spirit to raise
Let your sacrifices be of praise
The wonder of which no man can boast
O glory be to the Lord of hosts
The promises to return the lost
O glory be to the Lord of hosts
Prepare your heart and spirit to raise
Let our sacrifices be of praise!

LET ME BE A HUMBLE SERVANT
Jesus please come near to me
Reading Your word hope to see
The great great glory of thee
Most humble servant I be
I'll be praying all the way
Most honored place of the day
To feel Your peace be the pay
I'm leaning on all You say
I'm singing praises to Thee
All I ask is for the key
So all the world will see
Guide the path You have for me

Humble Servant Verses
I THINK OF YOU OFTEN
I think of you often,
and remember you in prayer.
I ask the Lord to help you
with the burdens you must bear.
If he doesn't remove your burdens,
he'll carry them for you.
So, be encouraged,
for he's promised this to do.
I also ask the Lord to bless you,
and to meet your every need,
and to help you read his Word,
and to give it earnest heed.
Yes, I think of you often,
and I remember you in prayer.
And I want to challenge you
to cast on God your care.
Now I ask you to pray for me,
for I am needy, too.
And as we pray for each other,
great things God will do!

Hi. My name is Amanda O'Connor and I live in Colorado. I am 14 years old and have two poems that I would like to share. I wrote the first poem, Don't Give Up! The second poem, The Final Flight, was written by an unknown author . It was written after a tragedy that occurred during the summer of 2005. In my area an Air Care helicopter had crashed and three men died. Those three men happened to be close friends of my Dad.
DON'T GIVE UP!
Terrible sins come and go
But God will always love you so
Put your trust in Jesus Christ
And you will live a wonderful life
When things are at a terrible height
Don't give up without a fight
God will be there to hold your hand
And carry you across all lands
Lay down your life at the feet of the Lord
And you will feel as if you've soared
Let the Holy Spirit flow through you
And you'll live a life completely new
- A life of beauty and of grace
And a bright new life you
will face

THE FINAL FLIGHT
The call came out in the light of day
"I need your help, please come right away!"
They spring to their feet without a word
And climb aboard a beautiful bird.
Up in the sky from miles away
They came knowing what to do and say.
They take you in your time of need
To a safer place for you to be.
They are truly angels, there is no doubt
Angels who come to help you out.
Their names you seldom got to know
Because of other's needs they had to go...
To the sick and injured they were a welcome sight
Both in the day and the dark of night...
They were not just there to their share
These angels came because they truly cared.
Now our three angels have gone away
To their home in the sky forever to stay.
So to their families and dear friends
Our prayers and gratitude we are sure to send.
For now, Bill, Jim, and Scott are at their greatest height
For our angels have made their "FINAL FLIGHT."
But we know somewhere in the skies above
These angels are flying and sharing their love.
For this I am sure
The Bible says it is true
Angels are flying in the heavens so blue.
For sometime in the light of that day...
GOD said,
"I need your help, please come right away..."
WAIT
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isa. 40:31
A pressing need, a burdened heart,
A longing in my soul that won’t depart-
My trouble burns as a brand upon my spiritual man,
But our all-knowing God has a plan.
I want, I pray, I beg- I plead,
My heart burdened with a Goliath need;
Our Lord knows- we surmise,
And our petitions He will not despise.
But God doesn’t answer right away,
Though with much expectation we pray.
"Wait" - our Master seems to say-
To a heart grieved day by day.
The wait is not in vain-
Giving hope amidst all our pain.
The Lord shall turn our loss into gain,
Though God’s ways we cannot explain.

IT'S TIME
It's time for me to turn and say
That the devil no longer stands in my way
It's time for me to surrender all
And give up my heart for the Lord to rule
He stopped the evil from blocking my vision
Now I'll serve Him, I'll make it my mission
He opened my eyes and let me see
His amazing grace and His love for me
The power of His love runs deep in my veins
And I'll shout to the world that it's the Lord who reigns
God willingly surrendered His Son for me
And i will proceed to love Him eternally
The work of the devil is all around
It kills and destroys but i'm standing my ground
I'll never give up, i won't let it win
For the gates to true Love have beckoned me in

ALL THAT I GAINED
Had I known the path this road would lead, I would have turned back around
Had I seen this coming, this pain and sorrow, feeling lost and never found
If I could have looked into my future and known Your plans for me
I would have crumbled and fell to pieces at all that I did see
But as it hit me and my heart did falter and my spirit did grow weak
I hit my knees and cried to You, Lord, with all my heart Your will did I seek
Morning after morning and day after day I prayed for Your love and grace
I begged for comfort and for mercy and for You to take me out of this place
I prayed for Your healing to settle upon me, every moment did I plead
And as I trudged along this journey I was certain You would see my need
I just knew you would rescue me from this heartache and come and save the day
These mighty foes that I did face I was waiting for You to come and slay
But everyday as I awoke the pain and the destruction was all I would see
My heart still cried out to the Lord, “My Father, do You even hear me?”
Because I was certain that by now that all my pain would be gone
I just knew as night had brought sorrow that You would finally send the dawn
I had prayed for You to carry me over and to put my feet on brand new ground
But yet I still feel as I’m sinking when I survey the destruction that is on
the mound
Yet in Your gentle way you spoke and with a mighty voice You said,
“My child quit looking behind and around and begin to look ahead.”
So “do not fear for I am with you” I always have been and always will be
Now when I feel as though I’m dying I remember You gave me the key
To unlock my weights and burdens and guilt and shame that I carried around
For once I was looking to end my suffering and that was what was keeping me
bound
For I must go through this, there is no way over, but You are right here by my
side
You know my tears and all my sorrows because You came to earth and suffered
and died
So change my heart and make me see that I can’t escape the pain
But because of my tears and all my losses, Your unfailing love did I gain!

SEEKING HEAVEN
We read, we hear, we sing of Heaven,
No sorrows, no tears, no burdens to bear;
A Mansion to Saints, will be given,
But, what must it be, to be there?
No pain, no trials, no darkness of night,
There will be Praises lifted by Prayer;
We'll be with Jesus; He is the Light,
But, what must it be, to be there?
All will be Joy, Peace, and Love,
With never a disappointment nor care;
Somewhere, in that happy Home Above,
But, what must it be, to be there?
No sickness, no death, no evil to allure,
Our Faith here, will be Sight there;
In Heaven with Jesus, we'll rest secure,
But, what must it be, to be there?
The Bliss will someday, be complete,
When Saints meet Jesus in the air;
Then, we'll bow at His nail pierced feet,
But, what must it be, to be there?
Our loved ones, we again shall meet,
Victory and Praising Jesus, we'll share;
The Supper of The Lamb, we'll eat,
But, what must it be, to be there?

GOD IS NOT FINISHED YET
A time came suddenly to bring us low,
With an illness at the evenings sunset;
We did not know the future of our lives,
God was not finished with us yet.
We are not given a Warranty in life,
Loved ones Prayed ~ no need to fret;
We leaned on Jesus for the Healing,
God was not finished with us yet.
We walked by Faith and trusted Him,
Many Prayed for us ~ we've not met;
We felt Prayers touch deep in our Souls,
God was not finished with us yet.
Beautiful colors etched the Western sky,
God painted a sunset we cannot forget;
We felt His Presence as we watched,
God is not finished with us yet.
He was with us in each lonely hour,
Jesus had lonely times but paid each debt;
In our weakness ~ Satan came to devour,
God is not finished with us yet.
We were kept strong so we could endure,
With God ~ all things are possible;
Health improved to restore which proves,
God is not finished with us yet.

WHY ME, LORD?
I keep busy through the daytime hours,
Trying hard, to live by God's Holy Word;
Trials and burdens, somehow, come,
It's then, I tend to ask, "Why me, Lord?"
The mountain is difficult for me to climb,
But, I'll climb and Obey God's Word;
He Promised to never leave me,
So, why do I ask, "Why me, Lord?"
His Word is a lamp unto my feet,
Sharper than any two-edged sword;
It is a light unto my path, and so,
I must not question, "Why me, Lord?"
God will not give more than I can bear,
I must keep my Faith strong in His Word;
Jesus endured shame, pain, suffering and death,
I must no longer ask, "Why me, Lord?"

OH LORD REMEMBER ME
Here I am, Lord,
Do please, remember me,
I Praise Your dear Name....
And Blessings, I see.
Remember me, Lord,
As I go through this day,
Things are not always easy....
But....I press on, and Pray.
Forgive me AGAIN, dear Lord,
Burdens become heavy for me,
Being weary, I sometimes stumble....
And then....I remember Calvary.

ALONE?
Have you spent this day.....alone?
Do you feel as if no-one cares for you?
Has no-one called you...via the phone?
And you long for Someone.....or two?
Others are so busy, with many things,
While you sit alone....in your rocking chair...
If others could only know what lowliness brings,
And how difficult it is, sometimes to bear.
A little bird comes to sit on the window sill,
And the Feathered Friend brightens your day,
God can send a little bird, as you seek His Will,
We know....God is only a Prayer away.
Our God works in mysterious ways,
And now, you find a smile upon your face,
As the little bird sings...giving sunshine rays,
You are so happy...as loneliness, God did erase.
Peace...has come into your heart, this day,
And now.....you no longer feel alone,
For the little bird God sent you...kneel and Pray,
You no longer find any purpose to groan.
God, in His Wisdom, looks down from Above,
And He will often send a little bird,
This is one way...He sends His Love,
To let you know...your Prayer...He Heard.
Leona I. Miller, California
TRUST IN GOD
Did you have tears, today, to flow?
Was someone with you...to wipe them away?
Just remember! Jesus wept too..and we know,
There was pain in His Heart...that day.
In this life....we all have sorrow....
Be strong and of good courage; God says,
I trust for you....a bright tomorrow,
So...when the tears are gone..give Him Praise!
Do not give up...what-ever you do....
But hold on....to the Lord's Hand...
He will carry you on through..
He will help you to be able to stand.
Trust in God...each moment of the day,
He will be with you..He sees your tears,
Healing...I Pray...will soon come your way,
Trust in Him...Obey...cast off all fears.
Reach out to God; He will comfort you,
Strength and Peace...will be given,
Remain close to Him...be Faithful and true,
Prepare your life...to meet Him in Heaven.
No tears...will ever come again,
When we bid this world our good-bye,
No more trials...and no more pain...
When we meet Jesus...in the sky!

A LIGHT IN THE WINDOW
The road is never weary nor long,
When going to the home of a friend;
Whispering a prayer and in my heart a song,
I'll soon be there ~ it's just around the bend.
When with a friend, time swiftly passes away,
It's soon time for the return to home;
I'm Blessed as I take a moment to pray,
Thankful for memories as friendship has grown.
With a light in the window just ahead,
I walk slowly and continue on;
The sunset's glow of yellow, gray and red,
Keeps me watching 'til the colors are gone.
Slowly ~ the shadows of evening have grown,
Still, I keep watch on the glow ahead;
The light in the window leads me home,
I am Blessed and my soul is fed.
There's a need for moments as this,
Moments to meditate and pray;
Earths beauty ~ I don't want to miss,
I'm preparing now, for Eternal Day.
There's never a lonely moment in life,
With a light in the window just ahead;
God will free us from all strife,
He is with us, just as He has said.
Leave a light on ~ in a window,
For someone who may be passing-by;
They'll not be alone and love will kindle,
Remembering a loving God is always nigh.
There's a mansion prepared in the sky,
A beautiful place in Heaven of our own;
I trust to be a light for others, in God's Eye,
As a light in the window that leads to Home.

Here are is a poem which had helped us so
much. I am sorry I do not know the author.
Keep looking up,
Though dark be the way,
God stands beside you,
With strength for today.

THE SON
Any moment the rain will fall.
The clouds move in, I lose it all.
It's as if the ground will break,
My heart begins its own earthquake.
The rays of light seems oh so dim,
I watch them fade, then fade again.
Why do I let a feeling so bad,
Creep in and wreck everything I have?
I know there's no greater force then Heaven above,
I'll overcome this with my Father's love.
He casts away my worry, destroys my pain,
He brings in The Son, through the darkest of rain.

Here are four beautiful poems written by Sharon Elaine Carpenter. These are only a few of her poems. Sharon and her husband have been involved in Christian ministry for over 30 years. Click here to read all of Sharon's poems on their ministry website.
WORDS
Words often seem like little things
And yet they mean so much
Depending on the use of them
Can hurt or cheer one up
How often do you choose your words
With caution and great care
Or, do you speak them carelessly
Not thinking, unaware
Of how they cut and mutilate
The pain goes deep within
Because we see the use of words
As dust blown in the wind
Scattered here and scattered there
To hurt the one who may
Without a thought, so innocently
Happen in the way
Now this is not intentional
Oh, No! we wouldn’t dare
To be so thoughtless to our friends
That would be quite unfair
Remember words are precious
A Treasure to employ
For spreading among those we greet,
much happiness and joy

THE COST
What does it cost to sacrifice?
The Price is high indeed
To be the servant of “The Most High God”
Does not come easily
There is hurt involved, as well as joy
Don’t expect an easy road
It wasn’t easy for our Lord
When on this earth he abode
To serve the Lord, means to serve mankind
To help in a Christian way
That one who is poor or destitute
Lets go, Lets give, Lets pray
Your good they may not appreciate
But that’s neither here, nor there
This is the norm for the Christian life
Be unconcerned about what is fair
It was unfair to our precious Lord
To nail him to the tree
Yet, he gave his life, he sacrificed
To save both you and me

HIS PLAN
His ways are so mysterious
We just can’t understand
What seems to us to be so wrong
Turns out to be His plan
He wants to work His will in us
But it brings much pain sometimes
Just like the dross from gold removed
We too must be refined
Don’t cower in fear when hardships come
Just trust in Him and know
He has a plan for each of us
We’re His, He has control
One day we’ll shine like precious jewels
Because we stood the tests
Not understanding all His ways
Yet, knowing He’d do what’s best

FOREVER NEAR
Though problems seem so great
I never have to fear
Though mountains seem so high
The valleys dark and drear
There’s one who walks beside me
To comfort and to guide me
His wings of love will hide me
My Lord is forever near
Be still my child he whispers
I am thy buckler, I am thy shield
I will fight thy battles
Forever, I Am Near

The following poem was written by Willis A. Thoen. Willis stated that he wrote the poem while thinking of his youngest daughter who was off to college. He also said that although he was not a poet, he hopes that you can get a blessing out of it too.
SOMEBODY LOVES YOU
(A Kinsman Redeemer from the book of Ruth)
Somebody loves you like none other can,
So if you have needs
And life doesn’t follow your plan.
Or when you’re a stranger,
In a far off land
He’s there for your hand.
Somebody loves you,
He knows you by name.
He saw where you were,
He turned as you came.
Somebody cares when you’re empty inside,
He knows your deep feelings,
He also was tried... He suffered and died.
So if you are gleaning,
And not much is found.
He heard you before
you uttered a sound.
He just wants you around.
He left handfuls on purpose.
That cover the ground.
He hears your heartbeat,
and longs for your will.
To follow Him home,
His love to fulfill.
He is rich and has mansions
Owns fields that are wide.
He has tailor made garments,
He calls you His bride.
He checked all the records,
and found you an heir,
to all that He owns,
and wants you to share.
He summoned the angels
To prepare a to-do,
To feast at His table.
Where His finest is you.
Willis A. Thoen
COMFORT
When your heart is sad and lonely,
And your friends seem far away.
Turn to Him who is all holy,
And He'll drive your cares away.
When a dear one seems to fail you,
When for friendship true you long,
Confide in Him who is all true,
And He'll right your every wrong.
Jesus' heart is your true refuge,
To Him you can always flee,
Even when your hopes are sinking,
He will then a true friend be.
He will soothe your lonely spirit,
He will love and bless and say,
"Come to me and I will comfort,
You, today and every day.
FEARS
Everyday I have fears,
I sometimes have tears.
I may fear that I may fall,
I fear that no one could hear my call.
But all those worries are just nightmares of mine,
And I forget that the Lord is with me - All the time.

Here are two encouraging poems written and submitted by Carolyn Porter
Follow ME
I used to walk down a sinful road
a road that led to heartache and woe.
My worldly views were what I had
no peace of mind could I find.
Then one day I cried in despair
and that's when the Master called unto me.
Come my child and look up to Me
I want to cleanse you and set you free.
For I died on a tree so you could be free
and now you can see what Heaven will be.
So reach out and trust Me and together we'll find
a new life, a new road, and a new home with Thee.
For the freedom of Heaven is joyful with Me
so don't hesitate today to come unto Thee.
The road may be narrow but what you will find
is peace, love, and joy that is truly sublime.
Then you will see how lovely Heaven will be
when you take up your cross and follow Me.

MY CHILD
Why are you crying
my child, yes why?
Come with your Heavenly Father
and rest for awhile.
When clouds look so gray
and flowers are wilting away,
and the days seem dreary and long.
I'm here, yes my child
each step of the way,
to comfort and bless you
and carry you each day.
So forget all your fears,
and wipe away all those tears.
Just trust me and reach out
and hold on my child.
There is never a day
so dark and so gray,
that together we can
brighten the way.
So look up to Heaven
and smile and pray,
and I will lift you up
along the narrow way.
Then someday my child
you'll wake up and see,
in Heaven with Me you will be.

GOD'S BOXES
I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."
I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.
With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.
I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me."
I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."
We should consider all of our friends a blessing.
Send this to a friend today just to let them know you
are thinking of them and that they are a joy in your life.
THE GREATEST GIFT
God did not have to give us
the beauty that we behold.
It was not required of Him
to show how His glory would unfold.
He could have given us dirt:
with no sun, no moon, no rain.
He could have placed us in a world
all ugly, black, and plain.
But God loved us so much more than that;
He did not want life to be bland.
He spread sunshine on this world we know,
and green grass across the land.
He planted flowers in the open field,
and trees on the rolling hill.
He shattered the night with moonlight;
sprinkled sparkling stars at will.
He scooped the deep blue ocean;
with His finger carved the stream.
Placed the bluebird on the sheltering branch;
gave us life beyond all dream.
He breathed life into every creature
from the greatest to the small.
Created man in His own image
that on God's name he should call.
When man turned his back on the Father,
God did not leave him lost.
He gave us the choice to come back to Him
when Jesus paid our cost.
The greatest gift God gave us
was the blessing of His Son,
Who gave His life on Calvary,
so our salvation could be won.
If you give your life to Jesus,
and release to Him each part,
He will flood your soul with happiness;
give you peace within your heart.
God gave us all these things in life
that our eyes to Him we would lift.
Then He gave us life eternal
through Jesus, His Greatest Gift.

WALKING IN GOD'S ARMOR
(A Prayer For Our USA Service)
Lord, we bring before You -
though we may not know each name -
The men and women called to serve.
Lord, they seek no reward or fame.
Lord, grant them wisdom to know Your Word,
and to hide in Your Secret Place.
Keep them in the shelter of Your arms;
help them to seek Your Holy face.
Though the world may come against them,
let the arrow that flies by day
Be trampled under feet shod with peace
as they walk in Your steadfast way.
When they see destruction at noonday,
Lord, give them courage to stand
Holding the shield of faith You give
to protect our beautiful land.
Terror may come in the nighttime -
thousands may fall at their side,
But, Lord we pray You'll protect them -
that in Your grace they'll abide.
Help them wield the sword of Your Spirit
to fight for the freedom You give,
Whether on the shores of our enemies,
or in the land where we live.
We know You have heard our prayers, Dear Lord,
as our soldiers take the helmet of salvation.
Guide them in Your righteousness
as they stand proudly defending our nation.

SINNER'S PRAYER
Lord, please forgive me
for all the wrong I’ve done.
Take away each and every sin -
Lord, cleanse them one by one.
I believe You are the Son of God,
and that You died to set me free.
You stormed the gates of hell that day,
taking possession of the key.
I believe You rose up from the grave;
the chains of death You broke.
Living to set the captive free -
lifting that burdensome yoke.
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.
Please fill up that empty space.
Give me peace to live in Your presence.
Let me rest in Your wonderful grace.
Thank You, God, for Your mercy;
for relieving my soul from sin.
Thank You for the gift of Your Spirit;
for giving me joy within.
Amen!

GOD RULES
God was, is and forever will be
He is not held by time, He's eternity
He's the Father of all creation
In control of every situation
With Him there's nothing that can't be done
He's ever present, so you cannot run
In His glory there is no darkness
In His love there is always forgiveness
If you ask, seek and knock you will find
Opens your heart so you're no longer blind
He wants us to know Him more each day
Always hears us when we pray
He doesn't want to occasionally be around
He wants every step to be on solid ground
Doesn't matter if problems are big or small
Hand it to Him and He will take care of it all
He can't love you more and won't love you less
He will fill you with peace and joy to the fullest
His Son Jesus sits at the our Fathers side
And the Spirit will help us all to abide
You can't go wrong obeying His voice
He is the truth, the way, the only choice

IN A LAND
There is a star that shines
so bright
In a land where there is
no night
On every face there is
a smile
For we will never suffer
another trial
There are no tears
no fears, no pain
but everything to gain
We will walk and talk
with our Lord Jesus Christ
For He paid the price
On that lonely hill
yet, He loves us still!

Here are two wonderful poems of encouragement written by Jan Payne of England.
THE HUMAN LONGING
Standing alone, gazing nowhere,
I found again that vacant space
A deep-felt longing filled my heart,
I yearned to find God's grace.
Just as a husband longs for his wife
A mother to nurse her child
I looked to find God's grace in me
His love so pure and mild.
Like April dew upon the grass
My tears fell moist and warm
I longed to find within my heart
A sense that I was born.
But God was not so easily found
That morning when I was lost
I thought he'd gone and left me
And I could only count the cost.
How foolish that my human mind
Could only see this empty void
How foolish that my human mind
With inconsequential notions toyed.
And as I looked and cried "My God"
"Come now to me I pray"
The God of love smiled down and said
"I'm with you all the way".
"My child, I know your longing,
I know your hearts desire
Why must you try to walk the way
That only comes with fire?"
I turned and saw that heavenly face
My searching ceased to be
Once more upon the steady road
I knew God's company.
For when I thought that God was gone
I knew the richness of despair
But the heavenly Grace of God
Was forever truly there.
Our God knows all about us
How we stumble along our human way
Yet His arms enfold us tightly
As He meets our longing, day by day.
Jan Payne, England, 18.02.02
THE JOURNEY
I heard the voice of God as he called me down the road
But I felt I couldn’t follow for I had a heavy load
"Come close my child" he said, as I shook my head at him
"This journey is for everyone, so let us now begin."
We walked a while and talked some more and soon it was quite clear
That when God calls you must respond, He wants us all to hear,
I put my hand in his and I followed down His track,
And tempted though I was at times, I never did look back.
For God has chosen out a path, the way that we must go
For some it will be "jet speed" for others just "go slow"
But whether rocky, smooth or steep, for each of us it’s true
God’s journey is a special one - it’s just for Him and you.
So place a toe along that road, walk forward to that place
Which God has marked out just for you - your very personal space,
The rails are there, you won’t collide, this journey has small strife
For God has sent a mighty guide, the Way, the Truth, the Life.
Yes, Jesus knew the journey for it took Him to the cross
It was for us God sent him, though it was His greatest loss,
Our journey’s driver never fails, he’s with us night and day
So, "all aboard", let’s start out now, as God shows us His way.

LIFE IS WONDERFUL
There's happiness for those God forgives
There's relief for those who have confessed.
There was a time I wouldn't admit
I suffered with my guilt and distress.
Then this sinful woman cried to the Lord
The Lord showed mercy and saved me.
There is joy for those who delights in God
There is peace for those who call upon Him.
Oh, how grateful and thankful I am
That God loves His children and hears them.
For this sinful woman cried to the Lord
The Lord showed mercy and saved me.
Put God to the test and you will see
That He is loving, faithful, and true.
You'll see for yourself, all the blessings
That He will shower down upon you
For this sinful woman cried to the Lord
The Lord showed mercy and saved me.
Now life is wonderful, oh so wonderful
Now that I know Jesus loves me.
He calms all my fears, wipes away my tears
He gives me peace and love within.
Life is wonderful, oh so wonderful
I will rejoice in Christ today.
As life's race is run, I'll tell everyone
I'm happier than I've ever been .

SING AS THE BIRDS SING
Oh, how sweet the music of the birds
That chirp and sing in early morn.
They make a melody without words
And make me glad I was born.
Let's all sing as the birds sing
And make a glad noise.
Let our happy voices ring
And tell of our many joys.
If one bird falls upon the ground
The one who created it knows.
Wings He gives them to fly around
Seeds and berries for them grows.
If so much for a bird, He cares
He cares more for you and me.
We know He hears our prayers
Our troubles He can surely see.
Each time you begin to hear
The sweet music of the birds.
You can know that God is near
And speaks to us without words.
Norma Jean Duncan, Princeton, WV
FEAR NOT FOR GOD IS WITH YOU
Beneath Gods watchful loving eye
Small and weak we stand, you and I.
But we need not fear the perils around
When beneath Gods wings we're found
When troubles and sorrows come our way
God will work them out if we pray.
Just trust Him, He'll guide you ore
And help you stand, with His mighty hand.
Remember it's darkest before the dawn
Don't be discouraged, keep going on.
Soon the light will break through
And His love will surround you.
Into each life some rain must fall
There's mountains for us all.
There's always another cross to bare
But remember Christ will always be there.
Norma Jean Duncan, Princeton, WV
HOW COULD ANYONE DOUBT GOD CARES
I look at the moon, what do I see
I see Gods love reflected at me.
Each little star, twinkles to his decree
Father, how could anyone doubt Thee?
I look at the sun shining today
And I know God always makes a way.
I watch the children happy at play
This is the reason I say.
How could anyone doubt God cares
He still listens to our prayers.
He has not left us alone to despair
He still provides what we eat and wear.
I see the birds soaring in flight
God teaches them how to do it just right.
The mountains and streams, a lovely sight
Also the snow, when it's pure and white.
It's true, that sorrows sometimes creep
And take away joys we try to keep.
It's only for awhile that we weep
For Christ still cares for His sheep
Although He allows storms to rage
They'll soon pass into another age.
It's only today we need to engage
For each new day, God sets the stage.

LORD YOU ARE LOVE
Lord you are love,
Peace and kindness too.
And in the dark and lonely times
I know that I’ll get through.
Because you hold me
Safe and calm,
You’re there each time I fall.
You promised to never leave me,
When you died to save us all.
You said you’d always love me
And I know that this is true,
Because Lord, you are love.
Peace and kindness too.
Stacey Lee, England
He does not lead me year by year
Not even day by day
But step by step my path unfolds
My Lord directs my way.
Tomorrow's plans I do not know,
I only know this minute;
But He will say, "This is the way;
By faith now walk ye in it."
And I am glad that it is so,
Today's enough to bear;
And when tomorrow comes,
His grace shall far exceed its care.
What need to worry then or fret?
The God who gave His Son
Holds all my moments in His Hand
And gives them one by one.

Here are four wonderful poems written by the late Evelyn Idelle Drewer Joy and submitted by her loving family.
QUIETNESS
Lord tell me now of gentle thing,
Thy tender love and care.
Of quiet times to rest my soul,
These precious moments rare.
Are like a lily sweet and pure,
It's tender leaves unfold.
It gives a fragrance like to God
When Thine own love is told.
Evelyn Idelle Drewer Joy
(1917-1994)
LOVE
Love is by far the sweetest thing that I have ever known.
It's something deep within my soul Like a breath from heaven blown.
To comfort when the tide is high
My way grows dark and dim.
I grope in utter darkness
And try to trust in Him.
Who never yet has failed me
When I called in deepest trust.
And from the darkness light appeared
When my soul seemed ought but dust.
Evelyn Idelle Drewer Joy
(1917-1994)
LIFE
I've been through the valley of the shadow of death
I've felt death's icy stare.
I've known torment that tortures the soul.
But the Savior met me there.
To comfort and sooth with His still sweet voice.
The tempest I couldn't bear.
In His own good time He brought me through
For His love was always there.
We struggle and strive and toss and groan.
The time seems endless and vain.
When we stood the test and weathered the storm.
He takes away the pain.
For He never leaves us completely alone.
His eyes NEVER leave His own.
Evelyn Idelle Drewer Joy
(1917-1994)
HIDE
The road ahead looks smoother now,
The one I left behind.
The devil has tried to sift me as wheat
And the world has not been kind.
But I find the longer I struggle and strive
To do my Father's will.
The closer He is to my wounded soul
And bids me to be still.
And listen to His still sweet voice
Where no trouble or strife can abide.
For in His love is sweet release,
And in His love I'll hide
Evelyn Idelle Drewer Joy
(1917-1994)
1Peter 3:4: "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not
corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight
of God of great price."
I BELIEVE
You ask me why that I believe
in someone I have never seen.
My friend you just need to look around
It's all through nature His love abounds.
The Bible we have has gone through time.
He tells us His plan so please don't be blind
Can't you feel His presence at a quiet stream
or feel His warmth to watch a baby dream?
He's always with us to comfort our fears..
Don't you call Him when troubles are near?
If you don't believe just who do you call
when your burdens are heavy and worries fall?
How do you think that need was supplied
just in time when you laid there and cried?
He sees and listens even if you don't care.
He's ready to help and your heart to repair.
So call to Him I know that He's near.
He's knocking at your door, can't you hear??

FEAR FACTOR
As a child I would fear
the darkness without
warning off monsters
with a clap and a shout!
These days are different
there's darkness within
those dark and dank rooms
God labels as sin.
We ignore and play games
saying "all is well"
unwilling to confront
these shadows from hell.
Lives wrapped in packages
so cozy and neat
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons
hiding our real needs.
Many fears locked inside
and each with a name
seeking only to hide
without shame, without blame...
A fear of losing control
of the world that surrounds;
a loss of identity
that was never found.
Those fears of growing old-
the pain and the dread
but most of all
there's the fear of death!
Fear is the opposite
of faith it is said
Let go and let God
calm your fear and dread!
Our Lord holds the keys
to unlock the dark rooms
The simple trust of a child
can open the tombs!
THE WEAVER
My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me,
I cannot choose these colors,
He worketh constantly.
Sometimes He weaves sorrow,
Then I, in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper
And I, the underside.
But when the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And show me the reasons why.
The dark threads are as needful
In our Weaver's skilful hand,
As those threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
The seas are calm, the skies shine blue, and no worries to be seen,
But then the clouds begin to form, work which Satan's keen.
The boat you're on is overwhelmed, your tossed and thrown about,
You rely upon yourself, and then begin to doubt.
"These trials that came into my life, and took away my smile,
I can't bear any longer, for I've walked the extra mile.
I've given my all through hate and pain,
through devious lies, and heavy rain,
I've tried so hard just to follow You,
and look at where You've brought me to."
Yet the thought has not occurred at all, the thought of growing more,
growing in faith in the one true Lord, the one who opens up the door.
Jesus Christ has been through more than you could even dream,
He came here to die for you, so is this pain how it seems?
So when is it we grow the most, and when then does He come?
when our defences finally collapse, and our mind begins to numb.
But the pain you feel is real for sure, yet it leaves just as it came,
and when it's time for the clouds to clear, will you still be the same?
Each test we get is for our good, to help us feel his touch,
so to keep the faith is least to do for He who gave so much.
Next time you're feeling down and out, from the weight of much to bear,
remember that the clouds will clear, and God will be shinning there.

Here us another poem written by Brett:
WINDS OF CHANGE
The path you're on is free from grief, free from evil lies,
but when you least expect it, comes the one we all despise.
He'll throw you down, and twist your mind,
bend your thoughts, and give false sign.
You'll rebuke the Lord, and give into sin,
shut your ears, seek to please men.
But when all your efforts are in vain, and just before you fall,
you'll hear a voice call out to you, for He cares about us all.
"What have you done with your precious life, that I bought with so much pain,
I came to earth to buy your life, and you repay Me with disdain.
My little child do you not see, of all My love for you?
So why then do you live this way, for it's evil this is true.
The tears I shed for you are real, the pain I feel inside,
come back to Me my child, and in Me you can hide.
The winds of change are here at last, so just put your faith in Me,
I never will forsake you, and forever this will be."
Even through closed ears you hear, it all starts coming back,
you remember how you used to be, and you begin to get back on track.
Satan's hold loses its grasp, the Lord severs the chains,
you are brought out of bondage, and there you will remain.
May you never forget what is born of faith, and all His love for you,
for every word He spoke is good, and every word so true.
The waves and clouds begin to fade, the smile returning to your face,
you thank the Lord for everything, for returning you to that place.
The fires that consumed your heart and mind, and tormented you in dreams,
are nothing more than memories, are not how they once seemed.
And from all this pain and all these lies, what then was to gain?
Learning apart from Him you're nothing, and you are not to be the same.
These trials that come into you life, bring you closer to His will,
and may you be with him forever, where the minute hand stands still.
So next time a test is brought your way, and life seems to have run its course,
Welcome it with open arms, because in God there's no remorse.

The following prophetic poem was penned six weeks prior to the discovery of
my wife Deborah's kidney condition, which doctors could not conclusively
diagnose as cancer for another six weeks. God used this poem to speak to my wife
and I in astounding ways during this time. She is cancer free today. Psalm 34:1
LISTEN, KNOW SPEAK
Listen for the voice of the Shepherd so true;
Hear heavenly words spoken directly to you.
Listen for your name being whispered aloud;
Hear it from the heart in the midst of the crowd.
Know you are loved in a most perfect way;
Perceive that His favor envelops you today.
Know there's a future that shall end with a smile;
Understand He is with you in every single mile.
Speak to the mountains "Be cast into the sea."
Speak to the shadows; true forms you will see.
Speak to the darkness and the Light shall appear.
Speak to the storm and Peace shall calm the fear!

A POT OF CLAY
As God looked down from Heaven one day,
He saw an old pot, it was made of clay.
Dirty and broken it lay there on the ground,
Worthless and ugly, it was kicked around.
Oh, it was so useless, fit for destruction,
Worn and ragged, a horrible obstruction.
Yet laying there, it seemed to catch God's eye,
For He didn't see it as just an ugly sty.
Reaching down He picked up that old pot,
He just couldn't let it lay there and rot.
Slowly He wiped away all the dirt and dust,
Gently He washed away years of earthly rust.
He patched it carefully, filling up each hole,
Making that pot as one, yes, completely whole.
He patched and filled each and every groove,
Then He sanded it until it felt smooth.
He painted with ease, every little detail,
Then He made it shine, He loved it, you could tell.
He worked so hard on this pot made of clay,
For He saw in it such beauty to display.
This pot I speak of, well, it's really me,
Created by God, His child at His knee.
Created to show that His love knows no bounds,
To tell of His grace, which surely abounds.
Now you may be thinking, you're a dirty pot,
But I want to tell you that you're really not.
God will take and bring out such beauty in you,
Oh, my Friend, I promise you that this is true.

The following three inspirational poems were written by Linda J. Stevenson from Roanoke, Virginia.
PEACE ON STORMY SEAS
I sailed upon a tranquil sea
Where all was peace and calm;
I felt my life serene and blessed,
I knew not storm or qualm.
Then clouds of doubt began to form,
The wind did stir and blow;
My tranquil sea did heave and toss,
I felt my anguish grow.
I cried, "Dear Lord, are you out there?
You see my ship storm-tossed?
Why do you leave me here alone?
I fear I may be lost."
God smiled and spoke these simple words,
"Peace my child, just be still;
I'm the God of the raging sea,
The waves obey my will."
"Hook your anchor onto 'The Rock'
That holds your vessel sure.
No evil can alarm you child,
I'll keep your life secure."
"No harm will touch you if you trust
And place your faith in me;
Your storm-tossed ship will once again
Sail on a tranquil sea."
"So do not fear the storms of life
That oft assail your soul;
I am the Master of the Sea,
I'm always in control."
"The storms will surely strengthen you
When on rough seas you sail,
For you will know the victory
That comes when you prevail."

REMEMBER THIS OLD TREE
A stately tree stood by the stream
Where sparkling waters flowed,
Her trunk was gnarled and badly scarred,
Her branches deeply bowed.
For many years she'd stayed the storms,
Withstood the windy blasts,
Her roots, sunk deep beneath the soil,
Tenaciously held fast.
At times she swayed so furiously
She thought her boughs would break;
The winds did heave her to and fro,
The ground did firmly shake.
Yet further down her roots did grow,
Her anchor firmly set,
She raised her branches to the sky
Her praises to beget.
For each new storm that came her way
Forced her to take strong hold,
And all the trials and stormy blasts
Caused her to grow fourfold.
When winds of tribulation blow,
Our faith takes root and grows;
And when shaken by life's trials,
God's strength He then bestows.
So when the trials of life befall,
Remember this old tree;
And thank God for each storm that comes
Which serves to strengthen thee

ON MOUNTAINTOPS AND VALLEYS
I stood upon a mountaintop,
An awesome beauty viewed;
And gazed into the distant peaks
In glory rainbow-hued.
I stared in matchless wonderment,
No tongue or words could tell,
The artistry God's hand did paint
No, none could parallel.
But then I looked to valleys deep
As far as eye could see,
And said, "Dear God, I'd like to dwell
Right here, just You and me."
He said, "My child, it's time to go,
There's work that you must do."
I said, "Father, can't we stay here
And just enjoy the view?"
"The easy way is not the best,"
He said, "You'll never grow.
It's only through the valleys deep
My blessings you will know."
"In valleys deep you'll learn to trust,
You'll learn to lean on Me,
You will find My strength sufficient
To meet your ev'ry need."
"It is through the valley's shadows
That I will make you whole,
Not mountaintops but valleys deep
Where I restore your soul."

because You first loved me
completely shrouded in my deepest of sorrows
my heart crying out with searing pain
perceiving no hope for the coming tomorrow
in utter anguish i called out Your name
and You came to me
beholding darkness in the meaningless within
blinded to the hand so lovingly extended
only with Your touch would the healing begin
in Your wisdom this is what You intended
and You rescued me
cautiously emerging out of the waning twilight
dawn tenderly transcends my tearful face
as delicate rays of hope restore my wounded sight
in awe humbled by Your magnificent grace
and You healed me
honorably exalted far above my own estimation
lifting me high for the entire world to see
my glorified spirit heeding the divine destination
in sacrifice You delivered me completely
and You sanctified me.

Here are two poems of encourage written by Sheryl Johnson from Arizona, USA.
I KNOW HE HEARS
Each night I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
I pray my love to Him each night
and to always keep us in His light
.
I know He hears each word I speak
and listens to each and all I seek,
for every morning that I wake
I realize all He's done for my sake.
Sometimes I ask Him to hold me tight
and to help me make it through the night.
I know He hears each and every prayer,
for I feel His arms and how they care.
I pray that my food He will bless
and I pray He will listen as I confess.
Now I know He hears me as I pray,
for I feel at ease at the end of each day.
I know He hears each time I bow
and I know He's listening to me right now.
I know my troubles on Him have poured,
but I know He hears, for he's my Lord.

NO ONE WOULD EVEN CARE
I stood with a friend the other day
as she spoke she started to cry.
She said no one would even care
if she lay right down to die.
I stood there for a moment
unsure of what to say,
and then I did remember
of a similar time and day.
As I looked into her sad filled eyes
realization came to me,
it wasn't my friend I must help
it was Jesus can't you see.
I told my friend of Jesus
and how He saved my soul,
of the way He turned my direction
and made my life feel whole.
I knelt with my friend that very day
as we prayed we started to cry.
I said no one would even care
when Jesus opened His arms to die.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Nothing is impossible
With the Lord in our lives
He causes doors to open
So we can walk inside
To brand new opportunities
We never knew before
To a new exciting level
In our walk with the Lord
With faith in our hearts
And our hand in His hand
We can cross any canyon
And through seas on dry land
For He will make a way
As in faith our walk begins
What seems to us impossible
Is possible with Him
When feeling like it’s all too much
Remember in the past
How God had made a way for you
When you came to Him and asked
And He again will answer you
And show you so much more
As you keep on trusting Him
And walking with the Lord

DESERT TIMES
There are times in our lives
The Lord may lead us through
A lifeless, barren desert
A time of testing too
But desert times can be
A place of special growth
Where God can do a work
And let His healing flow
I know that in these times
We don't feel God is there
We feel so very distant
And lost without His care
But God is there beside you
To bring you to a place
Of cool refreshing waters
Flowing with His grace
But for the present moment
You maybe in a drought
Don't give up on your faith
And don't you start to doubt
God is always faithful
And He will walk with you
Through the darkest moments
He'll be leading you.

THE BALM OF GOD’S LOVE
When we lose someone we love
The loss seems too great to bear
God sends us friends to comfort us
To show that He deeply cares
But in the dark hours of the night
When there’s nobody else around
When we feel the saddest and loneliest
It’s there God’s love can be found
It’s like a soothing, healing balm
To soothe our broken hearts
The healing oil poured over us
That flows into every part
We can rest secure in God’s love
And know He’s by our side
He holds us when we feel as though
A part of us has died
We can know that God will listen
When we just want to talk
And when we feel we need to cry
We can share it with the Lord
For He is always waiting there
Ready with arms open wide
As we pour out the hurt within
He pours His love inside
Our Father above loves us so much
And will never leave us alone
He will not forsake us in our need
To face this on our own
He comforts us and strengthens us
And rubs us with His balm
And as the dawn breaks through the night
We’ll awake in His loving arms.

PRAY IN THE BATTLE
I know Lord I don’t always try
And sometimes I don’t even care
I often let the worries of this world
Become a heavy burden to bear
I know at times I do not react
The way that I know I should
Instead my feelings rule my tongue
And I’m often misunderstood
I get so sick of constantly repeating
The same failures day after day
I feel so worn down by the constant battle
Maybe I should give up and ‘Pray’
Does this sound at all familiar?
Are life’s hassles wearing you out?
Do you remember to stop and pray?
So faith can replace your doubt
God never said that it would be easy
But He did say He’d always be there
We need to stop battling on our own
And give it over in prayer
Prayer is the one thing we should always do
Constantly, throughout the day
When we are faced with spiritual battles
We should never forget to pray
It’s so important to commit each day
Into the care of the Lord
So we can walk more victoriously
Than how we had walked before
The enemy tries to get a foothold
In every little way he can
We must be aware of his evil tactics
And refuse to give in to his plans
For we have Christ Jesus in our lives
And the power to overcome
As we keep praying and standing firm
All our battles shall be won.

GOD’S TIMING
The vision that God has given
And the things that He has planned
May not happen right away
Or in ways that we understand
For often God’s preparing us
For when that day arrives
When we will see the outworking
Of God’s vision in our lives
Though it tarries, wait for it
For it will surely come
God’s timing never comes too late
He’ll accomplish what He’s begun
God is never slow to act
He will surely bring it to pass
We need not be anxious and despair
But have peace within our hearts
For when it comes we’ll be released
Into what the Lord’s prepared
So we will fulfill all that He’s planned
As we are being gently led.

IF...
God can hang the stars on high,
Can paint the clouds that drift on by,
Can send the sun across the sky,
What could He do through you?
IF...
He can send the storm through space,
And dot with trees the mountain's face,
If He the sparrows way can trace,
What could he do through you?
IF...
God can do such little things
As count our hairs, or birds that sing,
Control the universe that swings
What could He do through you?

I SAID A PRAYER
I said a prayer for you my friend,
That your struggles would soon end.
That you would feel God’s peace with you,
As you trust Him each day through.
I prayed that you would feel His love,
Rain down on you from up above.
I asked Him to take care of you,
Fill you with joy and laughter too.
I prayed that He would let you know,
That He will never let you go.
That He’d pour blessings down on you,
And make your grey skies turn to blue.
I prayed that God would give you rest,
And that He’d answer your request.
I asked the Lord to touch your soul,
Fill you with hope and make you whole.
My friend I prayed that you would feel,
His gentle touch reach down and heal.
I said a prayer for you my friend,
My best wishes to you I send.

GIVE HIM ALL YOUR PAIN
Sometimes life does not make sense,
It’s hard and filled with pain.
It seems that everything goes wrong,
Dark days are here again.
The road you’re on is lonely,
You’re filling with despair.
Sadness fills your broken heart,
You wish someone would care.
But there is someone out there,
Who loves you very much.
He longs to heal your broken heart,
With his gentle touch.
He will never leave you,
He longs to soothe your soul.
He’ll hold you in His loving arms,
And never let you go.
He’ll fill your life with so much joy,
His peace will fill your soul.
He will set your heart so free,
His love will make you whole.
All your pain and sorrow,
He’ll gladly take from you.
He’ll fill you up with happiness,
And make you feel brand new.
The one who can do all of this,
Is Jesus Christ the Lord.
He can fill you up with strength,
Then be your shield and sword.
Jesus love you O so much,
That on the cross He died.
He paid the price so you can live,
Forever by His side.
Just pray to Jesus; ask Him in,
Then in your heart He’ll live.
He’ll never walk away from you,
His love He’ll freely give.
He’s here for you, just trust in Him,
And give Him all your pain.
He longs for you to trust in Him,
And feel His blessings rain.

Here are two encouragement poems written by Terrica Jestice.
WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE
Sometimes in life when you struggle.
And you don't know what to do.
Just trust in Me to provide.
Trust Me to see you through.
Your question is clear, I've heard your heart.
"Where do I go from here?"
"These things that's happened in my life."
"Lord please draw me near."
I know of your troubles child.
For I have heard your prayers.
Believe in Me, have faith in Me.
For you know how much I care.
My love you know is yours.
With courage to face each day.
Strength to face your tomorrows.
And my guidance to show you the way.
Terrica Jestice, 5-21-02
A LETTER FROM JESUS
Oh how my heart cries out.
With tears for aches unseen.
How I wish to bring you comfort.
To make you wholly clean.
But each time that I've called to you.
You've turned and walked away.
Please my child, don't do that now.
Please hear these words I say.
My arms they wish to hold you close.
My voice to say I'm here.
I will be with you each step.
You need have no fear.
And though I know you don't know how.
It was I stood the pain.
Through faith my child, you will learn.
It was for love that I was slain.
And if but you could see my face.
Then you would know inside.
The joy that I could give to you.
If you'll just let my love abide.
My plea to you is "COME TO ME."
I'm calling once again.
I'm knocking at your door.
Please Let My Love Come In.

TAKE THE GIFT
When I was a child,
Growing up in the church.
Doing my best to please Him,
To earn my worth.
Thank you God for grace,
When I fall on my face.
I can hear you whisper,
Get back in the race.
There are so many Christians,
Trying to follow law after law.
Satan delights in this state of mind,
Knowing that we would fall.
We can learn from the apostle Paul,
Salvation is not in the law.
It is allowing Christ to work through me,
Leading me to eternity.
Thank you God for grace,
One day I'll see your face
And feel your embrace.
Thank you, God!
Thank you, God!
Thank you, God!

I SEE THE PAIN
I see how you go on from day to day
With smiles for everyone in every way
But deep down inside
I see the pain that you hide
And the hurt that just won't go away
Give it to me I will take it all
I died for this reason to save your soul
I know it is hard, but you just must let go
Give it to me, I'll remove it all
At the foot of the cross fall on your knees
And I will hear you when you cry out to me
You do not have to carry this load alone
Give it to me and I will lead you on

FRIENDLY OBSTACLES
For every hill I’ve had to climb,
For every stone that bruised my feet,
For all the blood and sweat and grime,
For blinding storms and burning heart,
My heart sings but a grateful song -
These were the things that made me strong!
For all the heartaches and the tears,
For all the anguish and the pain,
For gloomy days and fruitless years,
And for the hopes that lie in vain,
I do give thanks for now I know
These were the things that helped me grow!
‘Tis not the softer things of life
Which stimulates man’s will to strive;
But bleak adversity and strife
Do most to keep man’s will alive,
O’er rose-strewn paths the weaklings creep
But brave hearts dare to climb the steep.

ALL SUFFICIENCY
God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that having sufficiency in all
things, you may abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Sufficient for each conflict, sufficient for each cross,
This grace will compensate thee for every earthly loss,
No task that lies before you, no enemy you face,
But you will find the Master provides sufficient grace.
"Sufficiency in all things", He promises His own,
Whatever path you travel you need not go alone;
For this is His own promise in every time and place,
In all life's circumstances an all-sufficient grace.
What if all friends should leave you, what if all things conspire
To multiply against you, and frustrate your desire;
What if some thorn beset you from which you fain were free,
His strength in weakness perfect enough will always be.
No need to dread the future nor what awaits you there;
God never gives a burden but grace with it to bear,
And this is His own promise for every time and place,
In all life's circumstances an all-sufficient grace.
No flame can kindle on thee, no waters ever drown,
With Him the strong and mighty you gain the Victor's crown.
No load can be too heavy if He that load doth share;
His grace is all sufficient to carry every care.
And when your strength is failing, and life is ebbing fast,
He surely will not fail you, nor leave you at the last;
For this is His own promise, whate'er you have to face,
His strength in weakness perfect shall give sufficient grace

NEVER CHANGING CHANGER
The never changing changer can change your life today
He'll change your heart, He'll change your mind
He'll wash your sins away.
The never changing changer once changed Man's history
By sending His Son He was able to bring
Grace, Mercy, and Victory.
The never changing changer can change your attitude
By virtue of His word He'll modify your thoughts
While supplying your heart with humble gratitude.
If the never changing changer calls out your name today
Pay heed to His voice, don't run and hide
He'll walk with you, He'll talk with you
He'll be your loving guide.

KNOW I AM HEALING
I come to heal the broken hearted.
Those who cry many tears.
Tears of grief, tears of fears
Tears of joy, tears of relief.
I come to dry your tear washed cheek.
With words of comfort I come to speak.
Look not to the left, look not to the right.
Look only to me both day and night.
Dear cherished child, I give you peace.
I am your God. Your pain will cease.
Each minute, each hour, each and every day.
Through my love, healing comes your way.
Memories live on within your heart and mind.
And through it all I Am with you all the time.
Please know my Dear, please know
From your side I will never go.
The healing continues both day and night.
I am the healer, I AM the Light.

PERSEVERE
Does the way seem long and dreary,
And your goal too far away?
Do you falter and grow weary
With the cares that press each day?
Does the burden that you carry
Seem an endless load of pain?
Are you tempted oft to tarry,
Ne'er to lift the cross again?
Don't despair; the way will brighten;
Arm yourself with strength anew;
Prayer will help the load to lighten;
Faith and hope will strengthen, too.
Keep in mind the thought so cheering,
Those who persevere will win!
Soon you'll have the joy of hearing,
"Faithful servant, enter in."

ALL I COULD WHISPER WAS "JESUS"
All I could whisper was "Jesus"
I was torn in the depths of despair.
All I could whisper was Jesus
His name alone was my prayer.
All I could murmur was Jesus.
He knew all my struggles and pain.
He knew my requests all unspoken
While I softly cried out His name.
Bound in the depth of His mercy
Held fast in the shade of His care,
His sweet gentle name was my refuge,
Anchored safe in that harbor of prayer.
Still, all I could whisper was Jesus.
All I could say was his name.
All I could whisper was Jesus,
But he knew my prayers just the same!

LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD
Once there were two women
who never knew each other.
One you do not remember,
the other you call mother.
Two different lives shaped to make you one,
One became your guiding star,
the other became your sun.
The first one gave you life,
the second taught you to live it.
The first one gave you a need to live,
the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality,
the other gave you a name.
One gave you emotions
the other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile,
the other dried your tears.
One sought for you a home
that she could not provide,
The other prayed for a child
and her hopes were not denied.
And now you ask me through your tears,
the age-old question unanswered
through the years;
heredity or environment?
Which one are you a product of?
Neither, my darling, neither,
just two different kinds of love.

"We make a living by what we get.
We make a life by what we give."
Here are two poems of encouragement written by Emily McAdams. Emily has written several inspiring poems which can be found on her very attractive website at: http://www.geocities.com/expressionsbyemily/index.html
JESUS IS WAITING
If every person in this world
Would take the time to see
The beauty that God created
How amazing this would be.
The sun in all its brightness
He made to light the day
The moon and all the countless stars
At night to lead your way.
The majesty of mountains
The golden fields of grain
The sweetness of a bird's song
A rainbow after rain.
The rustling of the leaves of trees
The slightest breath of wind
Are these just God's reminders
Of the love He wants to send.
So if you don't know Jesus
But you want Him in your heart
He doesn't want to lose you
So you must do your part.
He's always there and waiting
He's listening for your voice
He wants to be your Savior
But He lets you make the choice.
He only wants what's best for you
And He wants you for His own
To live with Him in glory
To share His heavenly home.
So when you feel a yearning
For something more you need
Jesus is holding out His hand
Just reach for it, He'll lead.
All sins will be forgiven
And you can start anew
If only you will just believe
That Jesus died for you.
That God His Holy Father
Raised Him from the dead
Now He lives and reigns in heaven
Just as the scriptures said.
Your life will be completely changed
When you are born anew
Because you have His promise
That He'll come back for you.
This life on earth is nothing
Compared to what's in store
You can't begin to comprehend
What God planned long before.
No more tears or pain or sorrow
Will you ever have to face
When at last you make it home
To dwell in God's own grace.
You'll meet your Savior face to face
And kneel before His throne
To worship Him forever
In your everlasting home.

MY LIGHT AT DAWN
In the early morning hours
Before the break of dawn
I spend this time of piece and quiet
Just God and me alone.
The beauty of His creation
The stars and moon still bright
Only He, my Lord and Savior
Could have painted such a sight.
I take this time to pray to Him
And praise His glorious name
And if by chance I miss this time
My day's just not the same.
And as I live my daily life
He's always in my heart
He gives me strength to carry on
If my own world falls apart.
He helps me when I'm down and weak
And despair is all I see
He reaches out and draws me back
His arms encircle me.
The joy and peace that He can give
Is just within your grasp
Invite Him into your heart today
You simply have to ask.
So if your life seems empty
And your days aren't clear and bright
Make some time to spend with Him
For God is dawn's first light.

An Angel walked this path today,
He came to meet me here,
To bring me courage, strength and hope,
My heart to warm, my spirit to cheer.
Oh Angel Fair come back to me,
again walk down this road,
I need more courage, strength and hope,
too heavy seems my load.
The Angel came and looked at me,
and said in accents mild,
"Thy load is not too heavy,
Thy Father weighed it child."
Then my load did lighter grow,
God's love seemed even kinder.
"I love you much," the Father said,
"The load is your reminder."

A FRIEND WHO'S ABLE
I've found a friend who's able
He's always by my side
He cared enough to give His life
In Him I can confide.
He helps me when I'm feeling down
He wants to help you too
Through Him, your life will be transformed
Your mind, He'll mould anew.
So many people fail to find
This friend I know so well
But He is here for all who seek
So listen as I tell.
Of His undying love for you
Your broken heart He'll mend
Just simply ask Him to come in
A helping hand He'll lend.
But who is this I talk about?
I hear you ask aloud
The man who made a difference
Who stood out from the crowd.
This man is known by many names
I love to call Him friend
His Father named Him Jesus
And His Kingdom will not end.

A HELPING HAND
Another morning sunrise
To start a brand new day
I'm scared by what awaits me
It's time I knelt to pray.
Your precious Word, it teaches
To bring my fears to You
To leave them at Your throne of grace
And You will help me through.

COME BACK TO JESUS
I know that life isn't easy
A smile is hard to find
And really, I can't blame you
With so much on your mind.
You know the Lord's the answer
I know you're still His child
And even though you've pulled away
His love stays meek and mild.
The Devil's out to trick you
To tear your life apart
But Jesus is the answer
He's light instead of dark.
And with His light He'll lead you
Back down the narrow way
He'll walk each step beside you
Your life need not be grey.
So come rejoice in Jesus
His arms are open wide
He's calling you to enter
You're still His special child.

IN HIS CARE
I don't know why this happened
Some things I can't explain
But all I know, is God is love
And He will soothe your pain.
All we can see is 'here and now'
But Jesus knows what's best
And He is waiting for your hand
He'll put your mind at rest.
I know the Lord is faithful
His love, it will not end
And He will bring your heart a peace
For He is your best friend.
And so, in Him, you can confide
He's waiting for your prayer
To draw you closely to His side
And keep you in His care.

CLOSER TO JESUS
The closer I draw to Jesus
And confess to Him all my sin,
The more He fills me with more of Himself
And cleanses my heart from within;
Mercy is granted whenever I fail;
Grace is given when I am in need;
What a joy to know
More like Him I will grow
As on His Word daily I feed;
Yes, the closer I draw to Jesus,
More like Him I surely will be;
For I claim His Blood to cover me over
And keep me constantly free;
Yes, I claim His Blood to cover me over
And constantly keep me free!

Poem Number 2:
JESUS . . . Mediator
(Hebrews 12:24)
Jesus, as we intercede for our family, You are able to save completely and
forever those who come to God through You, because You always live to intercede
for them! Thank You! (based on Romans 8:26-27 Hebrews 7:25.
BLANKET IN PRAYER
Blanket our loved ones in prayer!
Cover them with care and concern;
Lift them with love to the Father Above;
With faith let our hearts for them yearn...
Blanket our loved ones in prayer!
Tuck them in with faith each day;
Leave them with God, believing
He loves and will show them The Way...
Blanket our loved ones in prayer!
Each moment, each hour of each day
Intercede and cover in loving prayer;
Someday we will reap what we pray...
Blanket everything that we do
With each deed and each motive so true;
For as we blanket with care
Our loved ones in prayer,
Our Heavenly Father will blanket us, too!
(c) Sharon A. Maxwell, 02/02/92
Poem Number 3:
O Lord, out of our
depths we cry to You! You hear our voice! Your ears are attentive to our cry for
mercy! You hear us...You help us...You heal us! Praise the Lord! (based on Psalm
130:1-2).
In the midst of pain and heartaches, I sometimes question, Why? But I am
learning that it really doesn't matter why! God knows all about it, and He never
quits caring. He brings me through it and He will always be with me! I have also
learned that God can use what I have gone through to reach out through me to
help someone else... maybe even you.
TO YOU WITH LOVE
FROM GOD...
For every teardrop you cry today,
I am storing in heaven for you
A blessing beyond compare --
Forever, My Word is true;
My child, I am the LORD of your life;
I care ever so deeply for Thee;
To strength your faith, My precious child,
I have allowed what you cannot see;
I know you don't understand
The pain you are now going through;
But from within the Presence of My Love
Trust in My plan for you;
Remember all the promises found
Within my Holy Word;
Believe and claim them right now;
Every word of your prayer has been heard;
I will always hold tight to your hand;
I will lead you in Wisdom's Way;
I will hold you and never let go;
We will meet on that Glorious Day!

THE WIND'S NOT ALWAYS AT OUR BACK
The wind's not always at our back,
The sky is not always blue.
Sometimes we crave the things we lack,
And don't know what to do.
Sometimes life's an uphill ride,
With mountains we must climb.
At times the river's deep and wide,
And crossing takes some time.
No one said that life is easy,
There are no guarantees.
So trust the Lord continually,
On calm or stormy seas.
The challenges we face today,
Prepares us for tomorrow.
For faith takes our fears away,
And peace replaces sorrow.

ONE MORE SPIRIT MENDED
Most of my life I live in vain -
I reach out for things I do not have
I elevate them, bits and pieces
but it's these things I don't obtain;
these ordinary times I take for granted each day,
I felt it was simply easier to live my life that way;
I continued with emotional guilt hidden in my heart
I buried the frustration and the pain I caused in my life;
Can't say why I function like this -
perhaps I stopped thinking that God set me apart;
I should have known He'd seen my quiet tears
and now I know He feels my silent fears;
But it's when I saw His arms spread for me
and the burdens that I've put upon His shoulders -
I think that's when I could say I fully understood
that His love for me has transcended
and Heaven rejoices - one more spirit mended.

HOPE
There's a great almighty man up there
someone who will always care.
When you're lonely and lose faith and hope,
you wonder how on earth you'll cope.
To the rescue, God is there
to help you during your despair.
He sees your hurt and feels your pain
and will always be there, when in need again.
Never forget him, he's always there
confide in him, in your prayer
He's our creator, our strength, our friend
His love for us will never end.
Julia Inia, Sydney, Australia
I'M SUFFERING
I'm suffering just like Jesus did,
I know I can be strong.
The battle belongs to the Lord,
In Him there is no wrong.
I'm suffering just like Jesus did,
Yet His peace covers my soul.
As I walk along beside Him,
I feel so bold.
I'm suffering just like Jesus did,
with an abundance of fear.
Yet in the mist around me,
I know he is here.
I'm suffering just like Jesus did,
Yet His faith lives in me,
For as I walk within His light,
His love is all I need.

PRAYER
I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know, God answers prayer.
I know that He has given His word,
Which tells me prayer is always heard,
And will be answered, soon or late;
And so I pray, and calmly wait.
I know not if the blessing sought
Will come in just the way I thought,
But leave my prayers with Him alone.
Whose will is wiser than my own,
Assured that He will grant my quest,
Or send some answer far more blest.
Eliza M. Hickok
I am submitting a poem of comfort to whoever may read it. The Scripture I
used to write the poem is Psalm 46:l, "God is our refuge and strength, a very
present help in trouble." and Psalm 46:11, "The Lord of Host is with us; the God
of Jacob is our refuge." Se'lah
MY REFUGE
God is my refuge;
In Him I can hide.
He protects me from harm;
Under His wings I abide.
God is my help
In the time of need.
He gives me comfort
When His Word I read.
God is always there,
Though things look bleak.
He will be my strength,
Even when I am weak.
God is the great I AM;
I exalt Him above all.
In His arms I'm secure;
He'll not let me fall.
In Christ,

MIRACLES
I read a Bible story;
Back, when I was just a kid,
About all of the wonderful
Things, Jesus did.
How He healed the sick;
And prayed, with the poor,
He spoke of God's love,
On that Heavenly shore.
With the touch of His hand;
He made the mute talk,
The blind man to see,
And the lame man could walk.
How, He turned the water into wine;
And, could even raise the dead,
But, it took a lot of faith, and love,
"For, those miracles, He said."
Now, Jesus is still, in this business to heal;
Just , as He did back then,
And, if you believe, and have courage, and faith,
He will heal you too, my friend.

HE GATHERS EVERY TEAR
Regardless of the circumstance,
Regardless of the fear,
Regardless of the pain we bear,
Regardless of the tear.
Our God is ever in control,
Performing as He should,
And He has promised in His Word
To work things for our good.
But as a loving Father would,
He sometimes lets us cry
To cleanse the hurt out of our heart,
To wash it from our eye.
Yet gently gathers the tears
Within His hands to stay
Until He turns them into pearls,
And gives them back someday.
Glenda Fulton Davis
GIVE ME STRENGTH
If Satan's way I seek to go,
Lord, give me courage to tell him, "No."
Don't let my soul be led astray.
Please, give me strength for one more day.
And if I fall along the way,
Then lift me up, Oh Lord, I pray.
For, Satan's strong and I am weak.
Your tender mercies I will seek.
Your love is strong, your grace I need
When Satan makes my spirit bleed.
Give me strength, Oh Lord, I pray -
To fight this demon, day by day.
Satan's working overtime,
Trying his best to change my mind.
But if you'll help me, Lord, I know
His evil seeds will never grow.
For, you are mightier than the sword.
I've chosen you to be my Lord.
So give me strength, Oh God, I pray;
By standing in the devils way.
Vickie Lambdin
Here is another poem by Vickie.
SOMEONE WATCHES
Someone watches over me
Someone sweet, and dear
Sometimes he seems so far away,
And yet, so very near.
When my soul is weary
From the beaten paths I've trod,
He whispers oh, so gently,
"Be still for I am God."
Vickie Lambdin
JESUS
Hold on to the love of Jesus.
For his strength and love is real.
He captures our hearts,
And within our spirits the blessed
Savior heals.
Hold on to the love of Jesus.
For within him comes divine peace,
For within the presence of the Lord,
Great suffering does cease.
Shirley Beck
CALL HIM FATHER AND ASK
Through out our lives
When darkness
Falls all around.
Confusion sets
In and brings our
World, tumbling down.
Call for help
From above,
Call him Father
And ask-
For his love.
Call him Father
And ask for
What you need.
Call him Father
And no longer
Will your emotions
Bleed.
It is written
In his words.
Call him Father
And ask-
If you want to be
Heard.
Call out to God
And he will
Reply.
Call him Father
And ask.
His love will
never deny.
Call him Father
And ask
For what your
Heart desires.
Call him Father
And his blessings
Will rain down
In refreshing
Showers.
Call him Father
And ask
When you are in
Doubt.
Finally learn
What his love
Is all about.
Just Call Him Father.

THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN IS THE BEST
As I was sitting down one day,
I felt the need to think and pray,
But soon my thoughts took over prayer,
A Still Small Voice cried out, "Beware!"
"Ignore that voice," Concern called out,
"You must get up, you lazy lout,
And tend these things that need your care,
Pray later on, He'll still be there."
As I gave way to what he said,
I felt a sense of fear and dread,
The floodgate opened, doubts poured in,
They took control with much chagrin.
My list of worries grew and grew,
I cried out, "God, what should I do?"
Again He spoke; I heard His voice,
And realized I had a choice.
I could dwell upon these things,
Or give them to the King of Kings,
And enter into holy rest,
Stand on His promise for the best.
I entered in and took His peace,
My spirit felt a great release,
Things of this world may worry some,
For me, the best is yet to come.
For those who stand in His sweet rest,
The worst to happen is the best,
Because in death we have His grace,
As then we meet Him face to face.
Joy Kelly 2001, The Woodlands, Texas
I REFUSE TO BE DISCOURAGED
I Refuse to be discouraged, to be sad
or to cry
I Refuse to be down-hearted and here's the reason why
I have a GOD who's Mighty, who's Sovereign and Supreme
I have a GOD who loves me, and I am on HIS team
HE is all Wise and Powerful, JEHOVAH IS HIS name
Though everything is changeable, my GOD remains the same
My GOD knows all that's happening, beginning to the end
HIS Presence is my comfort, HE is my "DEAREST FRIEND"
When sickness comes to weaken me,
to bring my head down low
I call upon my Mighty GOD, into HIS arms I go
When circumstances threaten, to rob me of my peace
HE draws me close unto HIS breast, where all my strivings cease
When my heart melts within me, and weakness takes control
HE gathers me into HIS arms, HE soothes my heart and soul
The great "I AM" is with me, my life is in HIS hand
The "GOD OF JACOB" is my Hope, it's in HIS strength I stand
I Refuse to be defeated, my eyes are on my GOD
HE has promised to be with me, as through this life I trod
I'm looking past all circumstance, to Heaven's throne above
My prayers have reached the heart of GOD,
I'm resting in HIS love
I give GOD thanks in everything, my eyes are on HIS face
The Battle's HIS, the Victory mine, HE'LL help me win life's race.

THE END OF YOURSELF
How do you stop the pain, when it hurts so much inside?
How do you stop the pain, when your tears have all been cried?
When you turn to God, through His Son Jesus, to heal all of your sorrow,
You'll find comfort and mercy, and abundant grace, and the hope of a better tomorrow.
The end of yourself is the beginning of God, He's been waiting all along.
Where the lost are found, the blind can see, and the weak are oh so strong.
Thomas C. Duck, San Antonio,Texas
Here are two more inspirational poems by Thomas.
MORNING SOLITUDE
My favorite time of every day
is in the morning when I pray.
Just me and God, all alone.
I bare my soul before His throne.
I bring Him my burdens, and all my concerns.
When I can't express it, His Spirit discerns.
He gives back a peace beyond understanding.
Like a parachute gives a soft gentle landing.
So when life is a free fall that's out of control,
Make solitude with Jesus your primary goal.
And when everything seems to be going okay,
Still get with God alone every day.
For life is a series of trial after trial,
And strength comes daily, alone with God for awhile.
Thomas C. Duck, San Antonio, Texas.
TESTING, RESTING, AND WAITING
Between every promise and every provision there will always be a storm.
A test of faith, to show us and grow us, it is the Christian norm.
And if we focus upon the storm, then fear is bound to seize us.
Like Peter walking on the water, who took his eyes off Jesus.
Instead, we must focus upon our God, Who's in control of the storm.
And as we do, an inner strength, and confidence will form.
Resting in God in the midst of the storm is truly what faith is about.
God could easily calm our storm, but He wants us to learn not to doubt.
And as we are resting, and as we are waiting, upon our delivering King.
We should examine ourselves, to learn the lessons, in all that the storm will bring.
At times this waiting seems endless, but God knows how much we can take.
And He's in the business of building our faith, and never will He forsake.
We shall mount up with wings as eagles, if we wait upon the Lord.
For in His time, and in His way, His word becomes our sword.
God's timing is always perfect, and His delays are not denials.
Stand firm upon His promises, in the midst of all your trials.
Thomas C. Duck, San Antonio, Texas
GOD KNOWS
I looked at the hillside where the color of the leaves had changed, I knew this beautiful creation God had arranged.
He blesses us in so many ways, From snowflakes to make our world white to warm summer days.
He'll send a friend to brighten your day, You'll know this friend was sent from God's way.
Or someone may cross your path with a warm smile, It might be just what you needed to finish that last mile.
God knows our needs before we do, Even when we don't realize it he's there helping us through.
God knows every tear we've ever cried, He knows when we want to run away and hide.
Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair, But we have one we can depend on, one who's always there.
God knows when we're torn apart, Cast your burdens on him and he'll mend your broken heart.
He wants to see a smile on your face, As he blesses us with his grace.

PROVIDENCE
When I ask and I pray
And it does not go my may
I begin to doubt you are near
So I try to out do you
In the things I pursue
And I end up alone in my fear
God of creation, you like to surprise me
With the gifts you conceal till the day
Through no foresight of mine
But in your perfect time
You grant me my needs in your way.
Richard Hassefras 2001, Ontario, Canada
WAIT
Desperately, helplessly, longingly I cried;
Quietly, patiently lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to fate,
And the Master so gently, said, "Child you must wait."
Wait? You say, "wait," my indignant reply,
Lord I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word.
My future and all to which I can relate,
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a "yes," a go-ahead sign,
Or even a "no," to which I can resign.
And Lord, you promised that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry,
I'm weary of asking, I need a reply!
Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate;
As my Master replied, once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
And grumbled to God, "so I'm waiting... for what?"
He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes wept with mine,
And He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign."
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun,
I could raise the dead, and cause the mountains to run.
All you seek I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want, but you would not know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint.
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.
You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair,
You'd not learn to trust by knowing I'm there.
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me,
When darkness and silence were all you could see.
You'd never experience that fullness of love,
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove.
You'd know what I give and I save... (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.
The glow of My comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked,
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have last.
You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that "My grace is sufficient for thee."
Yes, your dreams for your loved ones overnight would come true,
But, oh the loss if I lost what I'm doing in you!
So, be silent, My child, and in time you will see,
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And though oft' My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still, WAIT.

CHEER UP
Cheer up my friend,
There is a rainbow at the end.
Don't give up the fight,
Doing so would be the devil's delight.
Look up to Heaven's shore,
Where there are treasures and much much more.
So cheer up my friend,
God is with you till the end.

IT'S IN THE VALLEY I GROW
Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow
If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.
I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low,
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow.

NOW I UNDERSTAND
I cannot say that I am glad when storm clouds come,
When days and nights are burdensome and long.
I like the peacefulness of sunny days
When life is bright and in my heart's a song
And yet, I know the wisdom I have learned
Or any courage that my life displays
Was never gained in golden sunlit hours
But rather grew from dark and stormy days.
I've felt God's presence closer 'mid the storm
As I relied on Him to guide my way
And through my trials found a stronger faith
Enabling me to better face each day.
And so, I would not ask God NOT to send
Those testings fashioned by His loving hand;
For ALL things work together for my good
And things once questioned ... now I understand.

ANGELS
Angels are watching over you
in your heart you'll see,
They are always there to help you
have faith in what will be.
They are ever with you
and lovingly will stay,
Embracing you with heavenly wings
protecting you each day.
Angels walk beside you
they understand and care,

TOO TRUE, TOO OFTEN
Too often we don't realize
what we have until it is gone
Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."
Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts
And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.
Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds
And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.
So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you
Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.
Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got
And be thankful for the little things
in Life that mean a lot.
Growing old is a privilege denied to many.
Never leave behind regrets

THE ROAD
I've walked along the pathway of troubles, toils and snares.
I've stumbled over many obstacles carrying the burdens that I bared.
I've felt the pain and anguish of the sins that had me bound,
I've often crawled from danger zones to get away from the sound.
I've cheated death; I've cheated life, I ask, what does this mean?
I've often found myself thinking; I really don't know a thing.
I never knew which way to go so I took the road that I could dabble,
I often thought about the road, You Know, the one less traveled.
I was so lost and terrified of the horror that awaits me.
If I would go to leave this world, I knew God would forsake me.
I've found myself so confused, not knowing what to do.
I heard a voice within the night saying "Child, I Found You!"
I looked to the side of the pathway, the one wide, cold and dark.
I saw an opening into the woods, it was small but not as dark.
I took a step onto the path then another until I saw,
This road that was less traveled, I didn't see it all.
The way was filled with lots of fruit and meat for those to feast.
I heard a voice call out to me, "Oh Child, This is the least".
I walked ahead a few steps more, I stumbled and I fell,
But someone helped me to my feet but whom, I could not tell.
The voice, it spoke to me once more, it said Child, it's okay.
Remember that I'm with you, beside you all the way.
There will be times of heartache and troubles to get you down,
But keep your eyes toward heaven, you'll see this all around.
You will never ever be alone for there are angels everywhere.
Each one, who travels on this road, has angels aware.
And if you fall or go astray, Just listen to my call,
I paid the price on Calvary, I hold your blood bought soul.
And one day soon if you walk this road, One day it will be gone,
For I will Say "Child, it is time, Come to your heavenly home".

"God has blessed me so abundantly with a Christian Family. I pray this
poem will lighten the hearts of many who think that there is no turning
point after you start down that dark lonely road. He has showed me the
path when I was lost and could not find my way. He has opened my eyes
to a brand new world. Praise God, I'm not alone anymore." Belinda
AGE, WISDOM, AND FAITH
"Age is an issue of mind over matter," or so the saying goes.
"If you don't mind, it doesn't matter," for it's wisdom in you that grows.
And the wisdom found in the word of God, is to what we should all aspire.
And the older we get, the wiser we get, if surrendered to God's desire.
All of the tears through all of the years, from the betrayal, pain, and rejection
Just doesn't compare to all of God's care, working out in me His perfection.
Just like the clay, first molded by hands, placed into the oven and fired.
Firming the vessel, to the form desired, to be filled for whatever's required.
So when the trials of life start taking their toll, and you feel you've lost God's protection.
Just look through the cross, until three days later, at the glorious resurrection.
So whatever your age, and whatever your part, upon the stage of life.
Count it all joy, and think it not strange, in all your struggle and strife.
For the wisdom of faith promises us a safe and victorious landing.
As we trust in the Lord with all of our heart, and lean not to our own understanding.
God's wisdom for us is mere faith in Him, for the Bible makes this quite clear.
And through each trial, our faith should grow, year after year after year.
Thus, age is an issue of trust over trial, progressing as we grow.
And the greater our trust, in the midst of the trial, the more God's Spirit will show.
Thomas C. Duck, Texas
LEAN ON ME
As the road ahead seems rugged
and the path is getting steep,
I feel that I can't make it
so my heart begins to weep.
Then I turn to see who's coming
to join me on my way.
I see it is my Lord
and He slowly turns to say,
"Lean on me.....
when you have no strength to stand.
When you feel you're going under,
hold tighter to my hand.
Lean on me......
when your heart begins to bleed.
When you know I'm all you have,
then you'll find I'm all you need."
Then when I felt that no one cared
if I lived or died,
and no one bothered asking why
I'd go alone to cry.
When the burden got so heavy
I could barely face the day,
I felt His arms around me
as I gently heard Him say,
"Lean on me......
when you have no strength to stand.
When you feel you're going under,
hold tighter to my hand.
Lean on me......
when your heart begins to bleed.
When you come to know I'm all you have,
then you'll find I'm all you need."

LONLINESS
For the lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (KJV)
Excuse me, while I cry,
Inside my soul is hurting,
Excuse me while I cry,
Inside dark fears are lurking.
Sometimes I cry and know not why,
And can't stop no matter how I try.
But, please
Excuse me, while I cry,
It's something I can't control,
Excuse me, while I cry,
It eases my lonely soul.

HOW MANY TEARS?
In December, 1993 there was an horrific crash on the M40 motorway where
several children and their teacher were killed, from Hagley Roman Catholic School.
It was heart breaking....here is my poem about it....
How many tears can a person cry,
Is there ever an answer to our question why?
Can one count the wounding stabs of pain,
Engraved within from that motorway lane?
Will the empty chasm ever depart,
From the bottomless well of a broken heart.
Love is like walking on a fragile wall,
Just a splinter of time can cause our fall.
Yesterday, you were ours to hold and caress.
So many souls for our God to bless.
Only He knows the reason you had to leave,
To enter His own eternal tapestry weave.
So here for now we all must wait,
Then all meet again, sometime at His glorious gate.

ROCK BOTTOM!!!
Sometimes I can't feel my feelings and I wonder where they've gone,
I wander what life's for and feel I can't go on.
Oh yes, they are still there,
I feel - hopelessness and despair.
If I could cry, would I wash them out?
My feelings, I mean - I'm lost and full of doubt.
My only hope is in you Lord Jesus, God's own Son,
Will you give me strength to live and carry on?
If I feel something, then I know I am alive,
Why must I go on, for what must I strive?
And yet Lord, if I'm honest, I am afraid to die,
Don't leave me all alone Lord, please hear my cry.
But at the bottom is my God - The Rock,
To my soul's abyss, He holds the lock.
He gave me Jesus, who forever holds the key,
My faith is in Him, He will set me free.

if this poem can comfort anyone in the grips of depression, then I would
be truly blessed.
SPARROWS
So many sparrows fall
Yet no one sees
The One Who made them all
In silence grieves.
If God so loves the sparrows,
How much more
He loves the child
He gave His Son up for.

IT'S IN THE VALLEYS I GROW
Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble, and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.
I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

ON THE WINGS OF PRAYER
Just close your eyes and open your heart,
And feel your worries and cares depart.
Just yield yourself to the Father above,
And let Him hold you secure in His love.
For life on earth grows more involved,
With endless problems that can't be solved,
But God only ask us to do our best,
Then He will take over and finish the rest...
So when you are tired, discouraged and blue,
There is always one door that is open to you,
And that is the door to The House of Prayer,
And you'll find God waiting to meet you there.
And The House of Prayer is no further away,
Than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray.
For the heart is a temple when God is there
As we place ourselves in His loving care.
And He hears every prayer and answers each one
When we Pray in His name - Thy will be done.
The burdens that seemed too heavy to bear
Are lifted away on the wings of a prayer.

I REFUSE TO BE DISCOURAGED
I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
And here's the reason why...
I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
And I am on His team.
He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.
My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.
When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.
When circumstances threaten
To rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.
And when my heart melts within me,
And weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.
The great "I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.
I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
As through this life I trod.
I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle's His, the victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.

WAITING ON THE LORD
Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried.
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently said, "Child, you must wait!"
"'Wait?', you say, wait!" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By FAITH I have asked, and am claiming your Word.
"My future and all to which I can relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a 'yes,' a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.
"And Lord, you promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!"
Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting. . .for what?"
He seemed then to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And he tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run.
All you seek, I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want -- but, you wouldn't know ME.
"You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint;
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint;
You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there;
You'd not know the joy of resting in me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.
"You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of my Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I give and I save. . .(for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of my heart.
"The glow of my comfort late into the night.
The faith that I give when you walk without sight,
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.
"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that 'My grace is sufficient for thee.'
Yes, your dreams for your loved ones overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss! if I lost what I'm doing in you!
"So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
THAT THE GREATEST OF GIFTS IS TO GET TO KNOW ME.
And though oft may my answers seem terribly late,
My wisest of answers is still but to WAIT."

I am a mother of autistic twin boys and I gotta tell you this poem makes me feel better and reminds me that I have a very important job to do down here. It also reminds me that this journey was given as an honor and God will help, and do what ever needs to be done, I must trust in him that His will, will be done. I believe I found this poem at an Autism website.
HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD
A meeting was held quite far from earth. "It's time again for another birth,"
said the angels to the Lord above. "This special child will need much love."
His progress might seem very slow, accomplishments he may not show,
and he'll require extra care from folks he meets way down there.
He may not run or laugh or play. His thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways he won't adapt, and he'll be known as handicapped.
So let's be careful where he's sent, we want his life to be content.
Please, Lord find the parents who will do a special job for You.
They will not realize right away the leading role they're asked to play.
But, with this child sent from above comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given in caring for this gift from heaven.
Their precious child so meek and mild is Heaven's Very Special Child.

DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit -
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

THE WILL OF GOD
The will of God will never take you,
Where the grace of God cannot keep you,
Where the arms of God cannot support you,
Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,
Where the power of God cannot endow you.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the Spirit of God cannot work through you,
Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,
Where the army of God cannot protect you,
Where the hands of God cannot mold you.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the love of God cannot enfold you,
Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,
Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears,
Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.
The will of God will never take you,
Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,
Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you,
Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.
Everything happens for a purpose. We may not see the wisdom of it all now, but trust and believe in the Lord that everything is for the best.

TAKE HEART
If you're tempted to despair,
And you think that no one cares,
There's one thing that should be clear:
"I will keep My promise to you. I am here."
As these doubts and fears assail,
And you think that you will fail,
Look to Jesus and you'll hear:
"I'll not leave you. I am here."
"I am with you in your trials.
I'll support you in your woe.
Any place that I may send you,
You can trust me. I will go."
"Through the valley, cross the mountains
Where the raging waters flow.
I will never, never leave you
But will surely always go."
"So take heart and don't be fearful,
Dare to love and trust in Me.
And your mission will be joyful
As My Spirit sets you free!"

I wrote this poem during the divorce that I am going through now. It has been really hard for me losing the woman that I hold in the deepest depths of my heart. God is carrying me through the hardest time in my life. I have Faith through Him and so will be able to endure all of Life's struggles.
Chris Mason, Atlanta, GA
When the times of my life
Seem ever so dark
I turn to the Lord
And He comforts my heart
His Love and His Grace
Fills my every need
And His promise through Jesus
Makes my life complete
My life as a sinner
Was paid with a price
Through the blood of my Savior
Who is the Holy Jesus Christ
As He works in my life
And changes my heart
I will follow His word
And I will never depart
For God so Loved us all
That He sent to this earth
A King who would save us
From the time of His Birth
THE GAMBLER
I was just a gambler, liked to throw the dice
Now and then I'd win, that was very nice
As I threw the dice, as I played the wheel
I do not see the devil, and all that he would steal!
I started out quite small, wagers here and there
Not too much to lose, really not a care
The devil left me win, enough to cloud my mind
How was I to know, that I was going blind?
The bets got ever higher, the cost began to grow
My peaceful state of mind, now began to go
The games no longer fun, I began to lie
All the while I'd smile, as yet I would deny!
Now, let me bring to light, the moral of this thought
Eternal loss, damnation, and all that it will cost
The tiny little wagers, were tiny sins, you see
Creeping into life, to keep the light from me!
Subtle and quite coy, as he took control
Into the gamblers life, Satan deftly strolled
Tiny little sins, grew bigger, bigger yet
And I, the once great gambler, lost the final bet!
Eternity in Hell, cut off from love of life
Eternity in Hell, never to see light
I could have cashed my chips, for Jesus and the truth
You cannot win and gamble, and Hell is final proof!
So listen to the gambler, who never made the choice
Listen to the gambler, listen to hell's voice
Cash your chips in now, before the final roll
And you will find your name, on Heaven's precious scroll!

FOREVER LOVE
Just a wounded child, calling out to thee
Just a wounded child, now on bended knee
Just a wounded child, who did not understand
The lessons we must learn, as we travel through this land!
Satan tries to tell me, that you are never there
And he tries to tell me, that you've never cared
And as I face these trials, with mountains much too high
I must stand my ground, rebuking all the lies!
I know that to the world, I now look like a failure
I'll never be a doctor, a lawyer nor a tailor
There are so many people, smirking in my face
Sometimes it seems impossible, to finish out this race!
I do not understand, the fires that lick my flesh
But know deep in my heart, that I will pass this test
I may not understand all that I've been through
But know that I've found love, one that's ever true!

The Vase
I came upon a vase, upon it was my name
The vase, before, had fallen, and would never be the same
In many, many pieces, the vase before had been
Each and every one, a broken wicked sin!
And then a man named Jesus, came upon the vase
And when he saw the pieces, a smile lit up his face
One by one he took them, and made them almost new
And what held them together was not a man made glue
What held them all together, was Jesus and his light
Shining through the cracks, into the darkest night
Within the vase, he placed a piece, the one that was my heart
And said to me, with all his Love, I never shall depart!

FAITH TO MOVE MOUNTAINS
Faith Can move mountains,
no matter how steep.
Faith can calm troubled souls,
no matter how deep.
Mountains are whatever
is bothering you.
Mountains are whatever
makes you blue.
Check out a mountain
and see what it's made of.
The mystery of your problems
this will solve
A mountain is made up of
one small grain at a time.
Your mountains are made up
with just the same kind.
The smallest problem
that bothers you the least
is the one that you quickly
bring down to defeat.
Each problem you do away with
brings this mountain down to size.
Mountains of problems
are satan's masterpiece of disguise.
Faith is reaching out to God
and knowing He is near.
Faith is holding on to God
and let Him wipe away every fear.

JESUS CAME TO ME
Just about a year ago
Jesus came to me
He must have seen my aching heart
Or heard my mournful plea
He led me to the alter
He put me on my knees
He listened as I begged him
Dear God forgive me, Please
He's there in every crisis
He leads me every day
He's teaching me compassion
All along the way
The crosses that I must bear
Had filled me with fright
They're easier to carry now
As I walk in his precious light
I talk with him each day
He's become a friend to cherish
I know that in him
I will never ever parish
My life here on earth
Is but a stepping stone
To that great day in Heaven
When I meet him at the throne
God gave his only son
So that I could be saved
An oh that debt on Calvary
That he so freely paid
I praise his holy name today
I lift my hands to him
I give him all the glory
For he forgave my sin
Since he washed my sins away
I now can clearly see
All I had to do was ask
And Jesus came for me
Lolly Thompson, 1999
My name is Marie Hunter, and I am from Nanaimo, BC, Canada. I struggled for years with sin in my life and never seemed to be able to get free from it. The reason was the way I viewed myself. I thought I was a terrible person, who would be stuck in a rut for the rest of my life. When I realized that when Christ died for me and I excepted him, I learned the most powerful revelation of my life. Galations 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free, stand firm then and do not be burdened by a yoke of slavery." (NIV Translation.) When I learned that Christ had not only died for my sins, but to set me free from me, it was life changing. This poem speaks of how when we except Christ he changes those ugly titles we have acquired over the years. The tittles that often hold us back from enjoying the freedom that is there for the taking. I hope that this poem will mean as much to someone else and it has to me. That others will realize who they are in Christ.
HE HAS CHANGED MY NAME
Throughout my life I've asked many questions
each one determining my future plans
but the most devastating answers have come from the question
who do you say I am?
Not all answers have come from words
spoken to my face
Not all answers have come from friends
Trying to put me in my place
Words have come from looks
from eyes that say it all
Words have come from books
I am too fat, too ugly, too tall
Words have come from silence
when I was feeling sad
Words have come from loneliness
or a hug I never had.
After years of gathering input
of who the world said I was
I pieced my names together
as every person does
I then carried out the duties
of what my titles said
Hating myself more each day
wishing I was dead.
Then I met a friend
who thought the world of me
His name was perfect, pure, and innocent
Holy, righteous and free
This perfect man who loved me said
I'll wipe away your pain
Give me your ugly titles
and I will change your name
But how? I asked this perfect man
and He looked at me, having counted the cost
He said like this, I love you.
and then He died upon a cross.
Now my name is perfect, holy righteous
innocent and free.
Because when Christ died upon the cross
He changed my name for eternity.

THE MENDER
My Savior specializes in mending broken things,
He takes the heart that's shattered, and gives it songs to sing.
He pieces it together with His sweet gracious touch;
He mends the heart that's broken because He loves so much.
He mends the broken spirit, then lifts that spirit up,
And pours the oil of gladness into the upturned cup.
The broken lives He reshapes... those lives so wrecked by sin,
When in their crushed condition they turn in faith to Him.
The broken dreams that crumble to ashes at our feet,
That seemed so fair and lovely, that made life taste more sweet.
Those broken dreams He rebuilds and fashions them anew...
Then gives us faith to trust Him to see new dreams come true.
What of the broken plans then? The broken health that comes?
Is He not ever mindful when life's swift pendulum
Dashes to scattered pieces the plans that we have made?
Above it all, He whispers- "I shall come to your aid."
He restores broken spirits, binds broken hearts, and dreams,
Repairs the shattered pages of lives that He redeems.
He stands ready to help us no matter what life brings
Because He specializes in mending broken things!

MY THORN
There's a thorn in my flesh,
that keeps bringing me down.
There's a thorn in my soul,
that keeps coming around.
The harder I fight it,
the closer it nears.
As I pray for deliverance,
my thorn reappears.
The sins of my past,
are all dead and gone.
But this thorn in my flesh,
is still hanging on.
I keep reading the word,
and I pray everyday.
That this thorn in my flesh,
will be taken away.
But your answer is silent,
my thorn will not flee.
When you answer, My Grace,
is sufficient for thee.
My flesh and my spirit,
keep waging their wars.
Though my spirit stays strong,
the lion still roars.
Still consumed by my failure,
I look to the Cross.
And ask your forgiveness,
this battle I've lost.
Please help me prevail Lord,
when temptation is born.
And please show me the secret,
to conquer this thorn.
If I resist that old Devil,
you say that he'll flee.
Because great is your Spirit,
that lives within me.
If I will humble myself,
in the Lord's precious sight.
He will lift me on up,
and out of the night.
If I draw close to you,
and I humbly submit.
You will rescue your child,
from out of the pit.
But to he that knows right,
and lets the wrong win.
His faith has been wavered,
to him it's a sin.
Lord build up my courage,
and help me to stand.
As this thorn in the flesh,
keeps sweeping my land.
I now trust and believe you,
and stand on your words.
Your scripture breathes life,
my spirit is stirred.
I have claimed total freedom,
now victory is mine.
Turning over my thorn,
to your Glory Divine.
I will walk in the truth,
as I ready my sword.
As I humbly submit,
to Jesus my Lord.

LET'S GET HIGH
My body numb, my mind was blank,
the drugs I smoked, they smelled so rank.
This world of mine, had reached an end,
the drugs I did, were my best friend.
Then Jesus said, "Give me a try,
come walk with Me, and let's get high."
But the only high I'd ever known,
was artificial, just on loan.
"It's just a lie, the proof you'll see,
throw down those drugs, get high on Me."
"The drugs you do, they make you blind,
you search for answers, you'll never find."
"For surely with the drugs you use,
your life will cease, and you will lose."
"The high you need, you can not buy,
partake of me, and you'll never die!"
I made a move that darkened day,
to give up drugs, to stay away.
The inner peace, for which I'd looked,
I found in Christ, and I was hooked!
The drugs we take, they can not please us,
if you want life, get high on Jesus!

PRISONERS OF THE SOUL
You sit behind those bars of steel,
wondering where time has gone.
You chose to fight the law one day,
but the law has finally won.
Your memory walks through happy times,
of your family left behind.
And your heart it cries for Love again,
and a peaceful state of mind.
Those thoughts were fresh, when you arrived,
now they fade with passing days.
And that freedom dream you held onto,
is now a smoky haze.
Now a broken heart and shattered dreams,
haunts you day and night.
If the hands of time could turn around,
you would change your wrongs to right.
But it's too late now, to repent your crimes,
no mercy will be shown.
The law is firm and won't forgive,
your crimes it can't condone.
But there's one who will forgive you,
of all that you have done.
He's the bright and morning star above,
he's God's own precious Son.
He died for you many years ago,
as he hung upon a tree.
And on that day, he swept away,
your sins and set you free.
We all are prisoners of the soul,
until Jesus breaks our chains.
And once we surrender our lives to him,
he will ease those hurting pains.
He brings hope to the hopeless everyday,
with his unconditional Love.
If you try him on, you soon will see,
he fits just like a glove.
But you must believe in Jesus Christ,
and make him Lord of all.
Before those chains that have you bound,
will loosen up and fall.
In his very own words, Jesus said,
at least in words of sort.
That every one has sinned in life,
and all have fallen short.
So if you want your hope restored,
just pray this simple prayer.
Invite the presence of the Lord,
and he will soon be there.
Say, Jesus I'm a sinner,
I'm lonely and I'm lost.
I understand you love me Lord,
and paid the highest cost.
Even though I am not worthy Lord,
forgive me of my sin.
I believe you are my Savior,
come dwell and live within.
You died upon the cross for me,
so I could be brand new.
And with this precious gift you gave,
I now die unto you.
I will serve you now and forever,
be my master and my friend.
Please take me underneath your wing,
let your Spirit now descend.
My life from this day forward,
will shine for all to see.
And spread the news of Jesus Christ,
the one who set me free.-Amen.
Now that hopeless soul that daily cried,
has finally found it's hope.
And your brand new friend, you just have found,
will give you strength to cope.
And if nothing else, find peace in this,
no matter the sentence you bear.
Jesus is coming again real soon,
and his Kingdom you will share.
And those years of time your looking at,
will seem like just a thing.
When your record is stamped for all to see,
"Paroled by Heaven's King".
So live each day for Jesus Christ,
and look up to the stars.
Cause a mansion is yours, just through Heaven's doors,
not a cell with prison bars.
And forgive yourself, cause Jesus has,
no need to further fear.
Put your trust in him, that precious gem,
His return is very near.

WHAT GOD HAS PROMISED
God has not promised skies always blue,
flower-strewn pathways all our lives through.
God has not promised sun without rain,
joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God has promised strength for the day,
rest for the laborer, light on the way,
grace for the trial, help from above,
unfailing sympathy, undying love.
FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking with The Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes of his life.
For each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonged to him,
and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along
the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it had happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered the man and he
questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said
that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why,
when I needed you most,
you would leave me."
The Lord replied,
"My precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

BIDING HIS TIME
Once, not long ago
I feared what the morrow
might hold
Lonely, scared, never
having been on my own
I did not think I could
make it alone
but as the season change
so did I
I became- a little wise,
for I realized
I would live, not die
for GOD can mend a broken heart
A shattered dream
a life torn apart
He bides His time
while meeting
your needs
and as on the wings
of a bird, He can set
you free...
so let Him have
His time
and do not rush
Him so
and you will find
a life and love
better than you could
have chose...

HE'S ALWAYS THERE
When you're feeling bad and your head is low
Lift up your spirit and know
That God has you in the palm of his hand
To give you strength, so you'll stand
When you think you've come to a dead-end
And the barrier that's blocking you won't bend
Know that God is all around you
And Kick that barrier down in the wind
When you know you just can't take anymore
And failure seems to be knocking at your door
Look to your front and back, to your left and right
And know that God will take care of this fight
When you think things are just impossible
And all you want to do is scream and shout
Know that all things are possible in Christ
And He is your way out
For He's Always There

Some things, we simply cannot tell, to those we care about…
What if they'd get the wrong idea, and change their mind, or doubt?
Perhaps they'd see that I am weak, when they believe I'm strong…
Or maybe they're convinced I'm right, when actually I'm wrong.
What if they took it really bad, and rumors start to fly…
My reputation badly stained, and things intensify?
People often fail us---imperfection in us all…
We tend to form opinions and to be so critical.
Sometimes the words just are not there when feeling really low…
We can't quite put our finger on, what's wrong with us, and so...
We'll spend a lot of energy to bury it inside…
In hopes that it will go away---we'll keep preoccupied.
When sin first entered in the world, we quickly figured out…
What disconnection (being alone) was really all about.
It started in the garden then, and happens still today…
The gaps in our relationships, and in ourselves, displayed.
Jesus knows our every hurt, our pain, our raw frustration…
Even those we keep inside to bear the full duration.
He is the One who fills the gaps and makes our lives complete…
He longs for us to come to Him—our needs, for Him to meet.
He sees the ugliness we have, and loves us all the more…
He died so that we all might have—relationship restored.
Jesus is a better friend than anyone could be…
He wants for us to be with Him for all eternity!
Let Jesus fight your battles—pour out your heart to Him…
He's patient, and He's gentle, and He really understands.
Please take the time to get to KNOW the One I'm speaking of…
There's NOTHING more important than—discovering His love!

THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH
Nehemiah 8:10
There is never a day but we hear folk complain
Of their troubles and trails at length;
And we tell all such people this message of cheer:
That "the joy of the Lord is your strength."
If the will of the Lord for your life is not plain,
And uncertainties still you annoy;
Why, just leave all details to the wisdom of God--
Let your strength be the peace of His joy.
And if Satan endeavors to cause you to fall;
If his wiles against you he'd employ;
You can quench ev'ry dart that the Wicked One hurls,
If the strength of the Lord is your joy.
Does the work that He gives seem too much of a load?
Does it try you beyond your own strength?
Well, just yield all your being to Jesus, the Christ;
For "the joy of the Lord is your strength"

Guests
Pain knocked upon my door and said
That she had come to stay;
And though I would not welcome her
But bade her go away,
She entered in. Like my own shade
She followed after me,
And from her stabbing, stinging sword
No moment was I free.
And then one day another knocked
Most gently at my door.
I cried, "No, Pain is living here,
There is no room for more".
And then I heard His tender voice,
" 'Tis I, be not afraid".
And from the day He entered in --
The difference it made!
For though He did not bid her leave,
(My strange, unwelcome guest,)
He taught me how to live with her.
Oh, I had never guessed
That we could dwell so sweetly here,
My Lord and Pain and I,
Within this fragile house of clay
While years slip slowly by!

HE DID -- HE CAN -- HE WILL
The God that stopped the sun on high,
And sent the manna from the sky,
Laid flat the walls of Jericho,
And put to flight old Israel's foe.
Why can't He answer prayer today,
And drive each stormy cloud away?
Who turned the water into wine,
And healed a helpless cripple's spine --
Commanded tempests, "Peace be still."
And hungry multitudes did fill,
His power is just the same today.
So why not labor, watch and pray?
He conquered in the Lion's den,
Brought Lazarus back to life again.
He heard Elijah's cry for rain,
And freed the sufferers from pain.
If He could do those wonders then,
Let's prove our mighty God again.
Why can't the God who raised the dead,
Gave little David Goliath's head --
Cast out the demons with a word,
Yet sees the fall of one wee bird --
Do signs and miracles today,
In that same good old-fashioned way?
HE CAN. He's just the same today.
Martin Luther
KEEP A PRAYER IN YOUR HEART
A day that starts without a prayer
Is like an empty shell,
And a day that ends without a prayer
Cannot be ended well;
For when your heart turns HEAVENWARD
You find a sweet release,
And you understand the meaning
of "His mercies never cease."
When life brings pain and sorrow
Which you feel too weak to bear,
There's strength in God's abiding love
And in the power of prayer.
So never start a day unless
There's a prayer within your heart,
Don't make a firm decision
Until you've prayed about it,
For prayer is like a golden gift --
And just can't do without it ...
And though at times you feel as if
Your prayer has not been heard,
Remember, God is listening
And He hears your every word.
He may not always give the things
You wished and hoped He would,
But in His love and wisdom
He does all things for your good.
As He Wills
As He wills, my steps to follow
As He leads, I'll take the way;
Murmur not, my heart, nor falter,
Linger not, my feet, nor stay.
As He wills, yes, Jesus said it,
Praying there, alone -- alone --
In the darkness of the garden,
Pleading at the Father's throne.
As He wills -- it may mean sorrow;
But His will is always best;
There the soul has calm assurance,
And the heart has sweetest rest.
Though I cannot understand it,
Why He thus has planned my way,
Yet I know all things are working
For my good, each passing day.
Oh; the joy of trusting Jesus,
Trusting where we cannot trace;
Leaning hard upon His promise,
Proving His sufficient grace.
As He will till life is over,
Till the gates swing open wide,
And I enter in triumphant
To that home beyond the tide.

The Promise
I know that the skies look gray,
The way may look unsure;
But Jesus has each step ordained,
Your future is secure.
Sometimes the greatest trials in life
Become the sweetest blessings;
If we can only keep our faith,
As we endure the testings.
For in His way and in His time
He works things for our good;
Why can we always stand on this?
... Just because He said He would.

JESUS SAYS, "I HAVE"
Have you ever--
Felt trapped in a room
That was all filled with gloom
Seemed no way to get out
And no one heard your shout?
Have you ever--
Just stumbled along
And the way seemed all wrong
And the burdens you bear
Made you fall in despair?
Well, Jesus says, I have!--
I've stood in Pilot's room
All about me was doom
Yes, I've felt the despair
When no one seemed to care.
Yes, Jesus say's I have!--
I have been there before
Do not fear anymore
I have walked down that road
And I fell 'neath the load.
Have you ever--
Had one you thought true
Say I really love you
But when trials came your way
Well, they just couldn't stay?
Have you ever?--
Stood by the grave side
Of a loved one that died
Seemed more than you could take
And your heart would break?
Well, Jesus says I have!--
Even when I was tried
By one was denied
Awake they couldn't stay
Not even to pray.
Yes, Jesus says I have!--
I have felt all their pain
As their tears fell like rain
For our loved one had died
And for Lazarus I cried.
Oh, Jesus says I have!--
I've been tempted like you
But the Word brought me through
I know heartaches are real
I know just how you feel.
Yes, Jesus says I have!--
I went up Calvary's Hill
To do my Father's will
With two thieves by my side
And for you I died.
Kathryn Souza-Wine
Until I learned to trust,
I never learned to pray;
And I did not learn to fully trust
Till sorrows came my way.
Until I felt my weakness,
His strength I never knew;
Nor dreamed 'til I was stricken
That he could see me through.
Who deepest drinks of sorrow,
Drinks deepest, too, of grace;
He sends the storm so he himself
Can be our hiding place.
His heart, that seeks our highest good
Knows well when things annoy;
We would not long for heaven
If earth held only joy.

GOD'S GRACE
I did not know His love before,
The way I know it now.
I could not see my need for Him,
My pride would not allow.
I had it all, without a care,
The "self-sufficient" lie.
My path was smooth, my sea was still,
Not a cloud was in my sky.
I thought I knew His love for me,
I thought I'd seen His grace,
I thought I did not need to grow,
I thought I'd found my place.
But then the way grew rough and dark,
The storm clouds quickly rolled;
The waves began to rock my ship,
I found I had no hold.
The ship that I had built myself
Was made of foolish pride.
It fell apart and left me bare,
With nowhere else to hide
I had no strength or faith to face
The trials that lay ahead,
And so I simply spoke His name
And bowed my weary head.
His loving arms enveloped me,
And then He helped me stand.
He said, "You still must face this storm,
But I will hold your hand."
So through the dark and lonely night
He guided me through pain.
I could not see the light of day
Or when I'd smile again.
Yet through the pain and endless tears,
My faith began to grow.
I could not see it at the time,
But my light began to glow.
I saw God's love in a brand new light,
His grace and mercy, too.
For only when all self was gone
Could Jesus' love shine through.

Here is another version of the above poem. This one also has a different title
and four more verses.
THROUGH THE STORMS
I did not know His love before,
the way I know it now.
I could not see my need for Him,
my pride would not allow.
I had it all, without a care,
the "Self-sufficient" lie.
My path was smooth, my sea was still,
not a cloud was in my sky.
I thought I knew His love for me,
I thought I'd seen His grace,
I thought I did not need to grow,
I thought I'd found my place.
But then the way grew rough and dark,
the storm clouds quickly rolled;
The waves began to rock my ship,
my anchor would not hold.
The ship that I had built myself
was made of foolish pride.
It fell apart and left me bare,
with nowhere else to hide.
I had no strength or faith to face
the trials that lay ahead,
And so I simply prayed to Him
and bowed my weary head.
His loving arms enveloped me,
and then He helped me stand.
He said, "You still must face this storm,
but I will hold your hand."
So through the dark and lonely night
He guided me through pain.
I could not see the light of day
or when the storm might wane.
Yet through the aches and endless tears,
my faith began to grow.
I could not see it at the time,
but my light began to glow.
I saw God's love in brand new light,
His grace and mercy, too.
For only when all self was gone
could Jesus' love shine through.
It was not easy in the storm,
I sometimes wondered, "Why?"
At times I thought, "I can't go on."
I'd hurt, and doubt, and cry.
But Jesus never left my side,
He guided me each day.
Through pain and strife,
through fire and flood,
He helped me all the way.
And now I see as never before
how great His love can be.
How in my weakness He is strong,
how Jesus cares for me!
He worked it all out for my good,
although the way was rough.
He only sent what I could bear,
and then He cried, "Enough!"
He raised His hand and said, "Be still!"
He made the storm clouds cease.
He opened up the gates of joy
and flooded me with peace.
I saw His face now clearer still,
I felt His presence strong,
I found anew His faithfulness,
He never did me wrong.
Now I know more storms will come,
but only for my good,
For pain and tears have helped
me grow as naught else ever could.
I still have so much more to learn
as Jesus works in me;
If in the storm I'll love Him more,
that's where I want to be!

THOU PASSEST THROUGH!
When thou passest through the waters,
Deep the waves may be, and cold,
But Jehovah is our Refuge,
And His promise is our hold;
For the Lord Himself hath said it -
He, the faithful God, and true -
"When thou comest to the waters,
Thou shalt not go down, but through!"
Seas of sorrow, seas of trial,
Bitterest anguish, fiercest pain,
Rolling surges of temptation
Sweeping over heart and brain -
They shall never overflow us,
For we know His Word is true;
All His waves and all His billows
He will lead us safely through!
Threat'ning breakers of destruction,
Doubt's insidious undertow
Shall not sink us, shall not drag us
Out to ocean depths of woe;
For His promise shall sustain us,
Praise the Lord, whose Word is true!
We shall not go donw, nor under,
For He saith, "thou passest through!"

LIVE EACH DAY
Sometimes we are weak,
we want to be strong,
But nothing is right,
everything is wrong.
We feel lost,
lonesome and blue,
no one to tell our
troubles to.
"Does anyone love me"
"Does anyone care"
We think too much,
we feel the fear.
So we pray to God,
in heaven above,
To send us His
tender love.
God will hear us
and answer our prayer,
"I love you my child,
Forget your troubles,
have no fear,
Whenever you need me,
I'll always be here"
Now we know we are loved,
by God, family and friends,
A love that is true,
and never ends.
We try harder,
and we pray each day,
We get better,
and stronger, in every way.
As we get stronger,
we are happy again,
We will live each day,
For ourselves, God,
family and friends.
